Nano (footballer, born 1982)Nano Macedo – Several pages list him with his last name, so per WP:NCP and WP:NATURALDIS using his last name would better disambiguate the page. Sources already on page: 1, 2. Ortizesp (talk) 14:38, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Support the suggested title seem more appropriate as per common nameꯂꯨꯋꯥꯡ (ꯆꯥ) 18:31, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 28 October 2021[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved.

6 editors (including the proposer and 2 editors who supported the previous move) support this move and only 1 opposes, so there is consensus to move. It is slightly surprising that the consensus has reversed in the past 11 months, but of course consensus can change, and it has.(non-admin closure) Havelock Jones (talk) 21:29, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nano MacedoNano (footballer, born 1982) – Former page name is way more correct. Player is and was known as "Nano", never as "Nano Macedo" or "Macedo". Seven out of the eight references on the page refer to him as Nano, only one (misleadingly used in the previous RM) refer to him as Nano Macedo. BRDude70 (talk) 20:18, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak Support per nom, I made the original request, but I do think his WP:COMMONNAME is "Nano", despite "Nano Macedo" being a more WP:NATURAL choice.--Ortizesp (talk) 21:14, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ortizesp: Not WP:NATURAL when almost all sources use "Nano" instead of "Nano Macedo". Soccerway is never precise on naming players correctly, especially when they are Brazilian or Spanish. A clear example was Gabriel Teixeira, which Soccerway used to name him "Biel" (a nickname the player used when playing in the youth setup) until very recently. • Comment I don't know much about the player to say if that is the right title or not. Per Spanish titled sources, the majority call him "Nano" while only two calls him by the current article title. I'm inclined to stick with the current article title based on Soccerway. If any of the other editors who participated in the previous RM still have the same view on the article title, they could also opt for this to stay put. • Oppose move Not "never". Afterall, "Nano Macedo" is his name. In December of last year, less than a year ago, there was consensus for placing the article under his name: "Nano Macedo". I see no compelling reason to change it. The redirect at Nano (footballer, born 1982) will assist any fan who searches by just "Nano". --Bejnar (talk) 23:51, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bejnar: A short discussion over a flawed move last year shouldn't be a definitive parameter over the player's WP:COMMONNAME. His common name is Nano, just Nano, not Nano Macedo. As simple as that. BRDude70 (talk) 00:22, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is never as simple as that. A Google search for "Nano Macedo" -Wikipedia gets over 8,000 hits, including Football Critic and EuroSport]. Yeah, fans call him "Nano", so what? He is not hurt by having the article at his name, and the redirect gets fans there just as fast as if the page were moved. No benefit in moving. --Bejnar (talk) 01:03, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@BrazilianDude70:, correction: 11 of 13 refs call him "Nano", in some refs you have to actually read the article/ref because it's not in the title. I also Support. --193.137.135.2 (talk) 14:08, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Nano Macedo appears to be a media construct where they cannot accept a single word name, or to easily identify him in headlines etc as he was never really famous enough to be immediately recognisable just as Nano. His official short name is Fernando Macedo, his common name as a footballer is Nano. Crowsus (talk) 11:52, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:09, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
