Wikinews[edit]

Can we bring this article in wikinews? That is at the front page of wikipedia? -- Abhijeet Safai (talk) 06:14, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt it but not sure. This article needs cleanup though, best wait till the news agencies cover it better and the dust settles. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 06:55, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Irrelevant Information[edit]

What is the relevance of the following information added today in this wikipedia page on Dr Narendra Dhabolkar? I would have made some sense had it been added to the article earlier - not today, when Dr Dhabolkar was shot dead. Its sole purpose seems to be to take mileage out the shocking death of Dr Dhabolkar. It is disgusting! Will the person who added the information has the good sense to remove it?

"He was closely associated with Sanal Edamaruku, a leading Indian rationalist and president of Rationalist International, who now lives in exile in Europe following death threats and blasphemy cases against him by the Catholic Church in Kerala" — Preceding unsigned comment added by SAMKHYAIST (talkcontribs) 16:29, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch, I've removed it. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 16:38, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article has been nominated for Wikinews[edit]

The article has been nominated for wikinews. It can be found out here. I would request all concerend people to vote for it. In my opinion, it will be a tribute to Dr. Dabholkar. Thanks. --Abhijeet Safai (talk) 08:41, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have lost the link and I am not able to find as where the discussion is. -- Abhijeet Safai (talk) 09:49, 6 September 2013 (UTC
I found the discussion in an archives. It seems it scrolled off the main discussion page without a decision to post it. A bit sad. You have done a fine job with it. Regards, Iselilja (talk) 10:10, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot. -- Abhijeet Safai (talk) 11:09, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Should we have a separate article for this? My opinion is yes. It is an important bill and I am sure that it will outgrow in size even this article of Dr. Dabholkar. Dear editors, please give your opinions. Thanks. --Abhijeet Safai (talk) 08:30, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

However given that the bill is at least as dead as the this guy, what's the point? Hcobb (talk) 18:43, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't say that, some days back the ordinance was announced. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 06:34, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Ugog Nizdast! --Abhijeet Safai (talk) 10:14, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And I hope that rationalism does not die in India. --Abhijeet Safai (talk) 10:15, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
From the source above "Dabholkar's family was sharply critical of the delay." I.e. nothing has changed. Hcobb (talk) 12:17, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the article will be needed. --Abhijeet Safai (talk) 16:35, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It seems like a notable topic. PS. Created Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Ordinance ‎ . --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:55, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How to edit further?[edit]

Do we have any strategy regarding editing article further? Thanks. --Abhijeet Safai (talk) 16:15, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As I said before, currently I feel that we have 'milked' enough information from whatever sources are available. Have you've found new some references which provide more information than what we currently have? otherwise the only thing left to do is copy edit it. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 06:34, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. --Abhijeet Safai (talk) 08:07, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to expand this organization, which seems notable and is a major legacy of Dabholkar. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:03, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 07:02, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tabled?[edit]

"the bill had not been discussed despite being tabled in seven sessions of the state assembly"

The verb to table has the opposite meaning in the United States to the rest of the world:

  • In the United States, to "table" usually means to postpone or suspend consideration of a pending motion.
  • In the rest of the English-speaking world, to "table" means to begin consideration (or reconsideration) of a proposal. Source: Table (parliamentary procedure)

Please use another term to avoid confusion.

Any developments?[edit]

Our article has a suspect arrested in 2018, then nothing. Was there a trial? Was he released? Has anything happened regarding the case in the last four years? 00:57, 22 March 2022 (UTC)2600:1700:D0A0:21B0:496C:67B3:68A0:8846 (talk)

Request to add caste information of Narendra Dabholkar[edit]

I have some information which refers to the caste of Dr Narendra Dabholkar. He was born into a Brahmin family. Source. How will this help? A: There has been a recent increase in animosity towards Brahmins for not advocating against caste-based oppression (source). Therefore, this should be added to acknowledge his efforts. Moreover, the category of Category:Brahmins who fought against discrimination should also be added. KoiRitwikHai (talk) 09:25, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
