A bit USA-centric?

>British slang is also used in place of more common terms, such as Sakura telling Naruto to "stop giving Sasuke evils" (slang for a dirty look) instead of just telling him to quit staring.

Why shouldn't a british edition use british idioms? Maybe this sentence should be flagged as "partial" or removed altogether.

>British slang is just as unwelcome as American slang, although the quoted sentence is a pretty bad example of a phrase not that commonly known or used even in some parts of Britain. It's also suggesting that it's moving even further away from the original phrasing of the show - possibly the British used the US version of the show for reference, instead of the Japanese one?

You have to remember its not like they just go and dub the anime without doing research. In fact before anything they do recieve a hard copy translation that is word for word what the sentence is being said in japanese but unfortunatly when you translate it into english it may be too long. The final product may leave us with a product something like a badly dubbed 70s Hong Kong action flick.

Also you have to remember that this was a finish product before the US or the UK got their hands on it. The system they are trying to use is the "Wordfit System". The voice actors try to fit words with the motions of the mouth make it seamless. Sometimes the literal meaning is to much to long for the motions of the mouth. This is where it can leave the voice actor with room to improvise. The voice actors will try shortening what the literal translation is without having the meaning of what is being said lost.

The japanese too have slang that we don't have a translation for. For example Naruto's use of 'dattebayo' or ____bayo in the Japanese version. Dattebayo does not have a translation but its used for a person with rough speech or for a person who is tough in Japan. In the US version the translate this by changing it to 'Believe it!'--Justwisted 14:00, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Move to Thursdays

As of October 5th, Naruto will be airing on Thursdays instead of Wednesdays. Also, as of this October 5th, one airing will be 90 minutes long. I think the move to Thursdays should be mentioned in the article. IamCool316 01:19, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

1) What network are you talking about? 2) 90 minute episode have a name? 3) Wait for it to happen, then report it. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 01:23, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, there is some proof. Im not entirely sure where the link was to show it is moving to thursdays but i have an image from the latest chapter and it says, im not entirely sure because i cant read Kanji, but a friend of mine says that there will be a 90 minute airing on October 5th. Im sorry i thought that everyone knew about this already dont attack me for saying something that i found out just 3 hours ago. Jezz... IamCool316 02:44, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, you weren't very specific. At least the 90 minute thing sounds hopeful. Until we get a title, however, ther'e not much of a point. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 02:58, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Alrighty, sorry for the confusion. In new at this so dont attack me for not knowing what to do. And regarding the title for the 10/5 airing, i think it will surface around this upcomming week or the next.IamCool316 15:47, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Characters maturity

Does anyone else feel the main characters in Naruto (Naruto, Shikamaru, Neji, Sasuke etc) behave wayyy more mature then 12 year olds usually are (I'm sure as hell didn't think they were 12 when I started watching the anime)? I think this should be noted in some way. Kalandra 10:42, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

I just wanted to compliment you all on this Naruto article. It has to be one of the most educating encyclopedic entries I have read from the Wikipedia in regards to anime/manga. I like how you've picked at the series and identified the prevalent themes in the series. I definitely appreciate that because sometimes you're left in the dark as to determine the themes that the creator tried to convey, and some anime fans, whether they like to admit it or not, finish the series or is at a point in the series where they're confused. Thanks again Naruto Wiki team!

24.119.142.242 18:23, 3 September 2006 (UTC)B Jones, an avid anime/mange fan!

This is definately the most expansive wiki for an anime I have seen, and one of the most expansive wikis I have seen in general.

Yes it is very informative and pretty well written. They have helped me alot in understanding the Naruto world. As for the question above, I feel that there maturity is understandable and is implied as normal when you take in consideration the world and culture they live in. A world where they are trained to defend lives with there own at a very young age so they have to matture quickly. Naruto is getting more mature but he isnt that mature in comparisson with the other charicters. Neji and Sasuke come from noble blood so they of course act the part. As for shikamaru he wasnt that mature in the start of the series but after he was promoted he realized the responsability he carried and being the smart guy that he is adjusted his way of living accordingly.BLaCk 22:14, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Gosh... we need some more mature people making the Naruto article —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 58.106.58.232 (talkcontribs) 05:29, September 30, 2006.

List every power

What I think would improve the general Naruto info is, on each character's page, is a list of every power that character has used. That would improve our knowledge of each move and character! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.135.212.105 (talkcontribs) 11:24, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Growth and Popularity

Hey, everyone. I'd just like to point out some points that should be noted as contributing to Naruto 's incredible popularity; when Naruto premiered in 1999, it was featured on the famous Toriyama's World website and always had consistent, high quality scanslations; this was also the advent of bittorrent, which allowed distribution of Naruto to be all that much easier. IRC popularity and the spawning of several large, huge fansites simultaneously dedicated to Bleach and Naruto only further inflamed favour for these excellent shows. Additionally, older manga like One Piece, which could have potentially spoiled Naruto's popularity, recieved little attention because it was widely assumed in the pre-2000 period that the OP anime was licensed, and there was never a dedicated or consistent scanslation group to edit the manga; this allowed Naruto and Bleach to gain much more fame, in part because of dedication and technological innovations. 68.189.82.81 23:5712 September 2006 (UTC)

Cool, but that's original research. To include information like that in the article we really need sources. ~MDD4696 02:44, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
This show is really hyped up. What's so great about it? (130.113.226.6 14:24, 13 September 2006 (UTC))
It's just mainstream Shōnen stuff with some cool secondary characters. Shōnen's always popular. --tjstrf 01:01, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

naruto special

SATURDAY: 09/23/2006

8:30PM Naruto 51 A Shadow in Darkness: Danger Approaches Sasuke

9:00PM Naruto Special 1 The Adventures of Naruto!...Oh, And Everyone Else Too! / One on One: Every Genin For Themselves!

this is the schedule for Sept 23 as listed by www.toonzone.net

think this is one of the OVAs or maybe the special episode that is supposed to air in Japan on Oct 5th? 71.71.79.235 15:34, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

um dude thats USA airings...japan is on like episode 200 now...tahts episode 51.....read things before posting -Gus- (66.191.125.243)
at this time Japan is ON 200 not "like 200", i do read things. that is why i listed the source of that schedule so people could be aware to be on the lookout for it if it is something only going to be shown in america and not an official release clip show like we think 202 is. and with the name of the one labeled Special 1 following episode 51. maybe you should read before posting. 71.71.79.235 06:43, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
The special appears to be a clip show. It will probably summarize the plot and show all the fight scenes between the genin that have occurred during the chunin exam arch thusfar. Narutofan discusses the subject here: [1]Gunslinger47 02:23, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
thanks for that link. guess it is just garbage made by Viz to fill space. i see the speculation on future airings after episode 53 in that and think Naruto will end for a while on CN cause i read that the final episode of inuyasha will be airing in October. so maybe since Beach and Trinity Blood have become the midnight hour Inuyasha wil take Naruto's timeslot for October until it is done. but that makes no sense to show the clip show then a regular episode the go off schedule for a month. unless they are just wanting to create anticipation for the final round of the Chunin Exam. 71.71.79.235 06:43, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Anime Filler Arcs/Canon

I rewrote a couple lines from the 'Anime' section, nothing but speculation.

Though these arcs are only present in the anime, it is likely that their events will hold true in the manga, since continuity issues would be created if they were ignored. No specific comment has been given on their status, however.

I changed it to:

It is unknown whether these filler arcs will be incorporated into the manga.

I still think even that is too speculatory. If anyone wants to take it out altogether, go right ahead - I just have this hesitation about removing things completely.
Desire Campbell 140.184.32.65 14:36, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

I agree with taking it out. The amount of episodes of filler is huge. I'd be sorely miffed if Kishimoto took his time to incorporate it instead of furthering the storyline. But as long as there is no contradiction, it can be considered canon. Vae 17:25, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Cartoon Network Monday-Thursday Schedule

Naruto was running Monday-Thursday on Cartoon Network @ 9PM CST, but I went to the scheduling page at C.N. and next weeks schedule does not have Naruto playing Monday-Thursday. Does anyone know if this is a mistake, or is the network removing the Monday-Thursday replays?--Salvax 19:51, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

I agree. I live in Canada and naruto doesn't come everyday at 8: 30 as it did before! I totally agree with Salvax! Himanyo 02:29, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Back where/when? I just checked this entire week and did not see Naruto listed during the weekdays on CN. shadzar|Talk|contribs 21:15, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Redisreguard, in fact I dunno anymore. My TV Guide says so, but we'll see. Pacific Coast Highway {blahHappy Halloween!WP:NYCS} 21:57, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
As far as I know, CN has stopped showing Naruto Mon.-Thurs. I believe it was originally shown sometime after the Miguzi time slots, but it was stopped after they had almost caught up to the new Premiers on Saturday. I believe that the weekday showings were about 5 episodes behind the Sat. episodes when they stopped showing them without notice. I can only presume it is for the above reason.

The Naruto Wiki

So, does a Wiki specifically for Naruto exist yet? I mean, If they have a whole Wiki on the iPod, then I think someone can create a Naruto Wiki. Wikipedia is like a corporate exec, like Wal-Mart. It has a little bit of everything, but isn't as good as your local guys (i.e.: For music, you want Allegro Music. Wal-Mart sucks in terms of Music supplies). I would personally like to see a Naruto Wiki. Call it AkatWiki or something (Modeled after Akatsuki). 71.212.160.161 05:14, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't think Naruto is that big yet. While it certainly is popular, it really doesn't have enough topics to fill its own Wiki. Trust me, Category:Naruto has everything you need to know about the series so far and more. You Can't See Me! 03:24, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

You can cover Naruto quite nicely here. No need to start forking the database. --tjstrf 03:31, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

i think it's i good idea, i mean there is a robot chiken and a beyond good and evil(video game) wiki and they are both small wiki's becuase there arent that many episodes/games. user:hotspot

Swearing in dub.

In which episode did they say the B word?

Which one? The Wretched 05:38, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Well, either way, I don't think it's on the dub. It wuld be on the Naruto Uncut DVD Box set, but not the dub. The Wretched 05:40, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
The word bitch is not profane in itself. It's only profane when used insultingly. I could see the Inuzuka clan using the term in an acceptable fashion. This is assuming, of course, that by the "B-word" you mean "bitch". If you meant bukkake, it was mentioned in episodes 5, 9, 16 and 37, as well as sixteen times within the 101 Omake alone. ;p –Gunslinger47 02:21, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Actually I was talking about the other b word.I'm just saying b word because i don't want to swear. And it was in the Naruto Wiki.

If by "B word," you mean "That's bull!" I believe Kiba said that at one point. It was either him or Naruto at some point around their fight, but I'm pretty sure it's Kiba. And was bukkake actually mentioned that many times? I've watched 101 several times (subbed) and I can't recall seeing it once. 'Course, that was several months ago, but I still think I would have remembered something like that. You Can't See Me! 01:55, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry to anger you, but I mean the b word that has they a after. It said they said it.

If they said "bastard" it's certainly not on the TV version. Danny Lilithborne 10:45, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
The TV version of episode 25 (The Tenth Question: All or Nothing!), they have Kiba use the word bull ("That's bull, man!"). --Alexie 16:12, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
"Bastard" is not a swear, is it? at least YTV aceptable i think. Guille2015 17:54, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Bukkake? I assume you mean the food of that name. Also, Narutofan, it's OK to actually say what word you're talking about. --tjstrf 16:31, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

You mean Sasuke-teme, right? That can't be said on Cartoon Network until Adult Swim or a special movie is being broadcast. In America, we can show violence (decapitation, disembowelment), but language upsets people more (drug references barely do), and it isn't allowed for our networks to show any explicit areas of the human body on cable, we can on digital cable and satellite, though.

Naruto Universe template

Where can I get the text for this Naruto template, you know, the one at the bottom of the page that says 'Naruto Universe' and has all the links? - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 2:18, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

{{Naruto info}}Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 17:01, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

On a more general note about the template, why is it one giant box, rather than two or three that are crosslinked to only the relevant similar articles within the category? For instance, we could seperate out the characters from the main template, and only use the one which applies directly to the page in question. In that way, we could make the template look less cluttered than at present. --tjstrf 17:19, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Navigation boxes should encompass the whole of a series. Also, it doesn't seem that bad to me. It's concise and well-formatted, not like some other giant messes of links. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 17:22, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the help Someguy0830, using the Naruto template as a guide, I created my own template. Go to Super Power Warriors to see it (of course it's not finished but it's a good start). I created this template because I am writing a story called Super Power Warriors that will have a prequel series (Super Power) and a sequel series (Super Power Warriors: Infinite), all of which I hope to turn into computer animated television series. I'm well on my way towards finishing the main series, then I'll be able to work on the other two series. So it will be 2007/2008 before you see much more of SP/SPW/SPW:I. If you're interested, you can read some of my work here: http://filelodge.bolt.com/profile/Grevenko/. I've only uploaded the first saga so far but I'll upload more soon. - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 1:02, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

So will you be the one to tell him that his non-notable and presently non-existant fiction doesn't need a template (or an article), or should I? --tjstrf 16:05, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Considering his record shows he has a habit of not listening to, much less replying to, messages on his talk page, you might as well tell him here. NeoChaosX [talk | contribs] 19:29, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Am I the only one to realize how rude that sounds? (Even though I agree, preparing a Wiki Page for a non-existant item is kinda premature...) Vae 17:29, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, it is a bit premature. I was mainly just fiddling around, so if in FUTURE SPW becomes NOTABLE there will be a template for it. It's not as if I've created an article for something that hasn't come out or anything like that, and the only place the template is used is in my personal sandbox so it's not as if it's hurting anyone. - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 20:55, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Naruto

I recently got into naruto cause they jus showed it to england (bunch of bums) and i think its really good now i know every thing about it and read all the comics im into it and i think its really got a good plot and storysoz guy im old yeh but CAN NARUTO BE THE FOURTH ??? just asking cus he wants to live his kinda legacy right

err.... look up Hokage in the Land of Fire section please. That is all.

4th? That old geezer? No. How about his being the 7th? Anyway, this really isn't a discussion forum and shouldn't be used as such. --tjstrf 23:28, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

English dub

What episode is the English dub up to? I noticed that Naruto will soon be coming out on DVD (October 11 - the first Naruto DVD comes out in Australia), so I'm just curious to know how many episodes have been dubbed into English. - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 21:32, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

In America episode 52 has aired and two VIZ only episodes to recap the 2nd and 3rd stages of the Chunin exam. So if you really want to count those there have been 54 dubbed episodes in an English language, and actual episode 53 to air this Saturday. 71.71.79.235 18:25, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
The recap doesn't count. It's a glorified clip show with no Japanese equivalent. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 18:35, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Incorrect Information

In america, the publisher is Shonen Jump. Just a heads up.

--No, It's Viz

English-language broadcast

On September 10, 2005, Naruto had its hour-long premiere in the U.S. on Cartoon Network's Toonami. The first episode of Naruto premiered in Canada on YTV on September 16, 2005. New episodes of Naruto currently air on Saturdays at 9:00 p.m. EST on Cartoon Network with an encore presentation the following Saturday at 8:30 p.m. On YTV it airs Fridays at 8:00 p.m. EST/PST and an encore presentation at 2:00 a.m. on Saturdays. In the UK, Naruto is shown on Jetix at 7:30 p.m. GMT. In Australia and New Zealand it premiered on Cartoon Network on September 27, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. AEST. The earlier English episodes are also available on Toonami Jetstream, Cartoon Network's broadband video service.[4]

What is wrong with that? Some of it shows when the anime series was broadened and placed into multilingual production. Even if current airing times don't belong, its first airing in a new country should be substanial information to not remove entirely as it shows the growth and popularity of the series. 71.71.79.235 15:27, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

How many viewiers do naruto pull in the u.s?

Do anybody have the numbers of the viewers this show pull in for the new episodes? The reason im asking this so i could add it in the growth and popularity section of this article.

P.S i dont want the ratings but the actual numbers please thank you.

Card Game

I was thinking something was wierd when I added the link to the CCG and the reference to it was removed

Among several other manga and anime titles Naruto has also spawned its own collectible card game.

Replacing it is this revison

Revision as of 15:00, October 1, 2006 (edit) Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) (restoring deleted paragraph, reword)

I added the card game info without removing anything. Not sure then whether I should again replace the card game info or Someguy mistakenly thought I had changed a paragraph that didn't exist back when I added the info in the first place.

Are card games made from anime/manga relevant enough to list in the main article for such anime/manga tosfurther show its "Growth and Popularity"? shadzar|Talk|contribs 17:00, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Oops, sorry about that. Someone deleted an entire paragraph. I must have caught your addition with the rollback. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 17:51, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
No problem at all. With all the recent vandals it is quite easy to strip a part of the article that may belong. I just didn't know if the card game itself belongs on the page or not so I was checking with everyone else's opinion that has more experience than me before I added it back. shadzar|Talk|contribs 18:09, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Akatsuki 9 or 10

OK iIbeen watching it change back and forth on occation, so can some agreement be made as to how many members it has? Orochimaru WAS a member until he left and there are only 10 rings leaving 9 members of the main group. Considering Sasori was quickly replaced by Tobi for Deiedra to still have a partner, then can saying it comprises of 10 S-rank ninjas be truthful. Apparently there are more than 10 members. Also we don't know the ranks of the subordinates. One of the S-rank criminals left leaving only a definate 9.

Is thre any way to come to terms so that something can be agreed upon by all as to not be some complicated? How about (which consists of 9 S-Rank and other criminals)?

Maybe even remove it from the main article since Akatsuki has its own article in which people can check to see its membership both past and present. shadzar|Talk|contribs 23:16, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

In the "history" of the manga, Akatsuki have only/always been 9. I don't really count Orochimaru since we never saw him actually IN the group. And when we saw him during the invasion/attack on Konoha, he wasn't wearing all black with red lining. Even though Sasori has told us Oro was with Akatsuki during that period.

And there aren't really any followers, to my knowledge. (Hierarchy within the 9 something else to talk about.) I don't think they need ppl to do their dirty work. Vae 17:37, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism

We have a major problem here! It seems that the user Shadzar has completely destroyed everything in the article! Somebody want to take care of this person? (I am a newbie, so I am clueless on how things work). 68.103.6.41 04:39, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Code_2008

After that somewhat sad episode of Bleach, I just watched your humor is quiet pleasant. However other than posting at the top of this section rather than proper order at the bottom, and your false accusations that was the only usefullness I see in your response to this section. Thank you.KenshinSayAra? 13:18, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

I think that's bad move to be calling an admin a vandal, don't you think? And he has a point; the sections he and Tjstrf are removing are biased POV and fan observations, which don't belong on an encyclopedic article about the series. NeoChaosX [talk | contribs] 15:33, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
With as many vandlas of late it is a bit hard to follow every member to see who is admin or not. When fan reactions cause a change in the airing/editing doesn't that make it worthy of note? I am trying to figure out how much opinion can go into types of articles that may have had effect on the production and release of overseas versions. Thanks for any help in understanding. shadzar|Talk|contribs 16:42, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
The answer would be none. Fans don't determine when shows air, they only determine whether or not they survive, and even that isn't true some of the time. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 16:48, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
It's a bit pompous to believe that a schedule change is solely because of fan reaction, isn't it? Danny Lilithborne 00:31, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
I didn't mean when it airs but when it airs which edit is aired. But yes fans do always contribute to when something is aired, that is why shows change timeslots based on ratings to either provide better ratings for a certain day or certain block of the day. Thats just the business and why the Nielsen Ratings exist. shadzar|Talk|contribs 00:41, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Actually, airtimes are based on pure numbercrunching, as evidenced by the numerous shows with huge fanbases that get cancelled. At the end of the day, it's statistics. Danny Lilithborne 00:43, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Nothing prevents an admin from being a vandal. Some of them just get full of themselves and think they own an article. The only difference between an admin and a normal user is that if an admin decides to be incivil, push pov, and use their powers against you, you're fucked and can't do anything about it.

Oh, and: I think their removals are bad. There is nothing unencyclopedic about mentioning at what point two forms of a media - in this case anime and manga - separate in terms of storyline. But they keep removing that.

IMO, Man in Black is going slightly overboard (shouldn't have removed section on the UK, for instance) but the fact is those secions were horribly titled and OR-ish. Also troll magnets. --tjstrf 21:26, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Nothing we can do about it, I guess. I agree with Tjstrf, in that Man in Black is going overboard with this, though. There is a fine line between cruft and information. You Can't See Me! 05:40, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

YCSM and I had an enlightening discussion on my talk page about this subject. Much of the dub differences were trivial edits, and sourced primarily to direct observation and comparison of the dubs themselves. I wouldn't object to a section on the differences in localization that was sourced to third-party reliable sources, but the version that was there gave excessive emphasis to minor, fannish details like the replacement of manjis. As for "Several small token edits have appeared in the North American manga, the most notable being the removal of Neji Hyuga's manji"; I daresay that the most notable edit was the fact that it was translated into English. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 18:27, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

I would consider manji replacement to be notable. --tjstrf 18:33, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
I agree with Tjstrf, the manji replacement is notable. If you wish to be incivil, as implied by your tone in italicizing the obviousness of an American translation of manga being translated into English, I will be happy to file an RFC for the matter. If you have some other problem, please do not take it out on wikipedia's articles or those of us trying to edit and make the article better in good faith. Uzumaki 18:37, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

That's fine. However, we need to focus on what has been noted in third-party reliable sources, though, instead of relating our personal opinions. I don't mean any incivility by pointing out that example; I simply highlight it as a loss of perspective and the assumption of details that are apparent to those who already know what goes into the localization process. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 18:40, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

When you state that something has been translated, that implies from one language to another. The alteration of thematic emblems or symbols, however, falls outside of this and is notable on its own. Similar notations are made- for instance- on the removal of Nazi emblems from the game Wolfenstein 3D before it could be sold in Germany. Uzumaki 18:48, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Not to be pedantic, but the article failed to mention that the North American manga was translated. It's a silly omission, admittedly, but bird does mention that they have wings, you know?
We don't have conflicting desires here, as I think we both want a well-sourced, well-written article. I just think it's better to remove unacceptable content (analysis of the series sourced only to people looking at the series) than to leave it and hope it gets better; there's never any solution more permanent than an interim one. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 19:05, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Way too many pepole are vandalising the page with Hentai pictures and comments about Naruto. This is a big problem which is why we need top keep it shut down for a while to solve the problem.

I agree with the user above there was a link to newgrounds.com on this page that lead to a Adult Rated game called Naruto Hentai Quiz Deluxe. If you know what Hentai is then this is a very inaproproit subjuct and needs to be resloved. Sonic34 13:40, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

The page has been re-opended for editing and is no longer under lockdwon becuase of Vandilism however if it happens agian we will have to shut the page down agianIkethebaby 21:57, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Wondering how notable the fansub/scanlation groups are and if we should link to them. I know this could be contentious so I am asking first. Thoughts? Uzumaki 18:15, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

No. Copyright violation issues, and they really aren't notable anyway. --tjstrf 18:31, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
I wonder on the notability factor given the number of downloads, but as you say, copyright issues. Thanks for the insight. Uzumaki 18:37, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Sasuke's Return

Do you people think Sasuke will return? Also, where do you find Naruto II? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.64.162.12 (talk) .

We wont know that until the manga has decided. Please see the external links for discussion on the show/manga itself. Naruto II is the name some fans gave to the set of arcs after the 30 month timeskip in the manga and can be found in the box at the bottom of the page, or external links for more info on where to locate a volume or chapter ands its specific info. shadzar|Talk|contribs 23:38, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
The way I see it there are 3 possible solutions to the Sasuke conundrum.
A. He will survive, returning to Konoha and embracing his former allies and friends.
B. He will die by the hands of Naruto, Orochimaru, or Itachi.
C. His body will be used to house Orochimaru's spirit as was intended originally by Orochimau.
Also, I think it is a givein that Sasuke must kill Itachi sometime in the series.
I think the first scenario is the most kiddy friendly possibility and the last being the most morbid.
Given the nature of the show, I think either A or B will happen. TBH I'd rather see Sasuke die than live, not because I dislike him, but because it would be a fitting end to his character. I think it would be entirely too sappy if Naruto and company are able to convince Sasuke to return to Konoha, and much too sadistic for the show's nature for Orochimaru's plans to come to fufillment and Sasuke be consumed. - JyL

Joy. No clue when it's actually ending, but there's at least that. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 05:46, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Hmm, we'll probably get busted for talking about off-topic material, but where is that from. (I haven't been watching the filler.) Anthr4x 01:32, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Then watch the filler. Because that's where it's from. Specifically, it's from the latest episode. Also, this is at least somewhat relevant, as it does signify that the fillers are beginning to acknowledge the timesip in some manner. I added it here because by itself it is not worth mention in the article. It'll become relevant later. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 01:53, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

A slight change in the US Version...

If anyone has noted Episode 53 in the US Version, it's started to carry the 'D' and 'S' symbols under the TV-PG rating, and also the 3rd opening has changed but has the original 2nd Opening Haruka Katana. Should this be noted down in the media section or somewhere? RedEyesMetal 17:04, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

It was a while back, but that entire section of the "american adaption" was removed and not all was replaced. Whether it should be there or not maybe we should wait to se if it is just the one episode or if others will also carry the D and S to show the lesser extent of editing of the episodes. shadzar|Talk|contribs 18:03, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Toonami Jetstream

Should this internet airing be mentioned at all? shadzar|Talk|contribs 18:09, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Naruto is also available on Toonami Jetstream, Cartoon Network's broadband video service.[1]

There. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 18:11, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Uchiha Symbol

Did the creator of Naruto get any complaints from nintendo because the uchiha symbol looks like an poke ball?

No, it's a fan. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 02:51, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
You know, at first I thought the symbol was a candy-covered apple on a stick. (/randomness) Treima 03:01, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
I do think it looks pretty close to a Pokeball - Chris
Uchiha is based off a Fan. It's a pretty clear history. No basis to lay a claim. Vae 17:42, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Hyperactive in discription

One of the listed reasons that this article failed to win the nomination for a Featured Article is that it contained the word "Hyperactive" in the discription of Naruto. This may have been discussed before, but could I have some view-points here?-Hairchrm 03:35, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

"Number one hyperactive knucklehead ninja" is the phrase used in the English dub. The Japanese version calls him "number one ninja at surprising people", afaik. Danny Lilithborne 03:41, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Is this actually in the anime/manga? I don't remember it.... If it is in the official description, we could keep it, but perhaps it could be quoted, or otherwise marked as a direct quote.-Hairchrm 02:26, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

The Number One Hyperactive, Knucklehead Ninja Joins the Fight!' episode 14 US title. Chapter 24 of the manga is where it comes form, but I cant translate what it actually says. Something like "Unexpected characteristic No. 1 shows participation!". Kakashi calls Naruto this when talking to Zabuza in the dub. shadzar|Talk|contribs 02:44, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Japanese

I'm sorry, this is remotly related, but all the Japanese characters on my com. are showing up as little black bars and squares. Can somebody link me to the download for the fonts? The Wretched 01:01, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

You will have to check with your browser maker or operating system to be able to install or use special fonts on your computer. shadzar|Talk|contribs 01:04, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

If you have Windows XP, the text is already loaded onto your computer - you simply need to install it. Go to Start Menu/Control Panel/Regional and Language Options, select the "Languages" tab, and check the box for "Install files for East Asian languages." That should take care of it. Not sure if the methodology is the same for other versions of Windows, but the chances are good. Dandon TRJ 02:41, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

I think naruto is awesome. But in western style it really sucks, you know what I mean.

Yeah um...everybody, that's all very helpful, to someone else, but I have no Windows XP, just 2k (Though I want XP). And uh, I can definitely remember there being an article or section somewhere in this Encyclopedia that's about Japanese character display and some links for those who have it shown as black bars and squares. Anyone know where that is? I don't care about anything else. The Wretched 10:20, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

The Japanese episodes ROCK! But then you go and watch an english episode and you wonder why in the world you went and watched it. I hate the english versions so much! Why couldn't they have just kept it dubed and put it on [adult swim]. Emo kid 911 6:30, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Setting

What year or whatever is Naruto set in? (no technology like computers, television, iPods, cars. Naruto did say something about "Why can't they get a digital clock?" No guns, either.)

Naruto isn't set in any specific time period. Rather, it is set in a fedual-like version of Japan with a modern context behind it. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 21:11, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Actually there is electronics as in both manga and anime they have "radios", headset style walkie-talkies to communicate between team members during missions. The anime also has laptop/notebook computers in the hospital. Not sure whether they were in the manga because it wasn't that clear what were in the rooms where Kimimaro and Rock Lee were treated. Fuedal system world most definately. Probably most similar to the era of Tokugawa Ieyasu but set in its own world entirely. shadzar|Talk|contribs 02:14, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Before, I wanted to copy and paste all the stuff that was deleted, but I changed my mind when I logged in as a user because it was restored. After I logged out, it stayed blank. The Naruto Info Template

How do I edit this template? I don't see the edit button anywhere on it, I wanted to add the series' card game under the Miscellaneous header. Also, shouldn't we move Sasuke to the "Enemies" section considering he is no longer a "main character"? Treima 01:09, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Naruto character info

Shouldn't we put in the characters side info the Chakra nature of each one of them ? It could be very informative!Uchiha Gaara 20:22, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

No. Any user can use almost any technique given enough practice, and we only know a grand total of one. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 20:32, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
