Legal section[edit]

The section currently titled “Legal trouble and controversy” needs several changes as it is out of date. I declare that I have a Conflict of Interest and am suggesting these corrections on behalf of Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

According to WP:CSECTION, this section heading violates NPOV, especially given that these claims have been settled or dismissed. "Legal events" or "Legal proceedings" would be more appropriate.

The second, third and fourth paragraphs should be merged as follows to indicate that they are one narrative. I have also provided a citation:

On 23 May 2019, he was indicted for alleged bribery in an investigation into the 2017 and 2019 Doha nominations for the World Championships in Athletics. "These facts do not concern him", pleads his lawyer who contends that Nasser Al-Khelaifi is innocent. His lawyers denied these allegations, stating that Nasser Al Khelaifi is innocent and “these facts do not concern him.” [https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/other-sport/bein-chairman-and-psg-president-nasser-al-khelaifi-placed-under-formal-investigation-for-alleged-corruption-1.865345] In February 2020, Swiss prosecutors replaced the charge of bribery by indicting Al-Khelaifi for "inciting Jérôme Valcke to commit aggravated criminal mismanagement." On 27 March 2020, the Swiss Federal Court rejected the prosecution's latest indictment against Al-Khelaifi for "inciting Jérôme Valcke to commit criminal mismanagement", stating that "these conditions of mismanagement are absent from the OAG's [Swiss prosecution's] accusation".

The fifth paragraph is out of date, can "Prosecutors plan to appeal the ruling" be updated to "Al-Khelaifi was fully acquitted in October 2020 and again on 24 June 2022 after the Swiss prosecution appealed the original ruling." Citations [23] and [24] can be kept, and the following verify the appeal results:

In the final paragraph, this too has been concluded, please amend “UEFA has opened an investigation into the matter” to “Following investigation, UEFA cleared Nasser Al-Khelaifi of all charges related to the match.” [https://disciplinary.uefa.com/updates/0276-154abbeafe9d-f25585a46c44-1000/]

Many thanks for taking the time to update this section. Sungreeya (talk) 16:14, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ptrnext: Thanks for responding to this request so quickly. I can see you have changed the section title to “Controversies”, which is still in contravention of Wikipedia policy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Criticism#%22Controversy%22_section). These were legal proceedings which have been concluded, and were grouped accordingly; the new title risks the article structure becoming unclear in future while still falling short of Neutral Point of View. “Legal proceedings” would be a more appropriate title. What are your thoughts? Sungreeya (talk) 13:47, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sungreeya you're right, I've updated it now. Thanks. Ptrnext (talk) 15:41, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ptrnext Amazing, thanks for reading and replying, and hope you have a nice weekend! Sungreeya (talk) 00:38, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
