Untitled[edit]

This page needs a little editing and cleanup. It is very information-dense, but instead of direct quotations, it needs a referenced summary of items. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aderksen (talkcontribs) 14:33, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

F5 Tornado[edit]

Has anyone read whether the facility will withstand an F5 tornado? Frank Layden (talk) 00:42, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dangerous Animal Virus on US Mainland?[edit]

Reference 10 is targeting a generic NBC page, and I can't Google anything titled: "Dangerous Animal Virus on US Mainland?" by the AP. There is nothing by this title after 2008. It would be good to recover this reference; however, I will delete it if no replacement can be found. Charles Juvon (talk) 23:53, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy Section[edit]

Perhaps we can start with this and then move to the NAS study: https://thebulletin.org/2020/03/hot-zone-in-the-heartland Charles Juvon (talk) 04:45, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The NAS report is here: https://www.nap.edu/catalog/13031/evaluation-of-a-site-specific-risk-assessment-for-the-department-of-homeland-securitys-planned-national-bio-and-agro-defense-facility-in-manhattan-kansas Charles Juvon (talk) 10:26, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
From the two links above, quoting the second:

"The SSRA’s estimates indicate that the probability of an infection resulting from a laboratory release of FMDv from the NBAF in Manhattan, Kansas approaches 70% over 50 years (see Figure 3-1) with an economic impact of $9-50 billion. The committee finds that the risks and costs could well be significantly higher than that, and elaborates on those findings below." Charles Juvon (talk) 10:32, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It would appear that an article cited above is still current: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/08/04/secret-sanctions-revealed-against-university-hosting-125-billion-biolab/31075709 Charles Juvon (talk) 16:21, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am removing your fabricated cattle-on-fire image as well as the link to your personal facebook group, which has all of seven members. Discussing the other links above e.g. USA Today and the National Academy of Sciences is fine, but the Wikipedia will not be host to your social media conspiracy links.
