First exploration

[edit]

User:Debby (Mckay) Davis added the following to the article. Moving to the talk page, since as-is it's not ready for inclusion in the article (needs a reference and rewriting):

The first known exploration of this cave was by my Dad, Jimmie (Pat)Patrick McKay and his life long friend Robert (Bob) Groom. They spent a lot of time in the area exploring during the 50's and 60's. It was my Dad and Bob who tried to get the University of Wyoming involved in exploring it further....with no success, they contacted a university in Montana......it was through them that they were put in touch with the University of Kansas. It was the information on the camels and large cats in the cave that interested the professor. The professor in Kansas contacted Bob numerous times, over several years, for the location of the entrance because they couldn't find it......My Dad passed away this February (2015) and Bob was at his memorial service on 3/14/15 and talked about this cave and the hard time they had getting into it, and more importantly, how to get out of it!
