Deprod and notability

[edit]

From WP:BIO: "Persons achieving renown or notoriety for their involvement in newsworthy events" may be considered noteworthy. Given that she has received accolades from two countries for her heroism, and that the hijacking was a newsworthy event, I think she meets the criteria. Accordingly, I am removing the {{prod}} tag. —C.Fred (talk) 01:08, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 22 February 2016

[edit]

The article mentions that there is a neerja bhanot chowk in ghatkopar east area in mumbai ..which is incorrect. Rajeshwadhwani9 (talk) 13:33, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done Here's the text that was in the article:
A square called Neerja Bhanot Chowk is named after her in Mumbai's Ghatkopar (East) suburb by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation.{{cn|date=February 2016}}
I have removed the text as it does not cite a reliable source. Obviously, the text may be added back if/once a source is found to support it. —C.Fred (talk) 17:09, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: as you have not requested a specific change in the form "Please replace XXX with YYY" or "Please add ZZZ between PPP and QQQ".
You appear to be trying to change her year of birth, from 1963 to 1962, but 1963 is sourced to the Tribune article, whereas you have not cited reliable sources to back up your request, without which no information should be added to, or changed in, any article - Arjayay (talk) 12:03, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Date of Birth was 7 Sep, 1962, not 1963

[edit]

|birth_date = (1962-09-07)7 September 1962 103.253.202.84 (talk) 17:47, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: The cited source is pretty straightforward with this: "Neerja Bhanot was born to Harish and Rama Bhanot on September 7, 1963, in Chandigarh."[1] To change the date, you'll need to provide multiple reliable sources that show the different date. —C.Fred (talk) 18:32, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

31.55.10.219 and warring

[edit]

I think 31.55.10.219 (talk · contribs) has a point in trying to make their recent edit stick. The edit contains a lot of useful tweaks and reverting it wholesale and without comment is not constructive. This needs to be talked through. If you are reading this 31.55.10.219, please do not revert again or you will be bashed over the head with the three-revert rule WP:3RR. It really does not matter which version is left live while we talk it through, Wikipedia will still be here tomorrow. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 12:52, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Youngest recipient?

[edit]

An IP is removing all mentions that she is the youngest recipient of the AC. Setting aside that the IP's edits change the meaning of the sentence—stating that she is "the recipient", implying nobody else has received the award—is there merit to removing the claim that she's the youngest recipient? (Or, conversely, is there a source that clearly states she's the youngest to receive the award?) —C.Fred (talk) 15:42, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Protected status for article?

[edit]

Is it worth protecting this article against casual edits? It's obviously a subject about which people feel strongly and want to contribute - I've seen a couple of changes in just the last week or so since I edited and started watching the article myself - but it's also clear that there's a lot of differing or conflicted information out there which is finding its way into the article and therefore needs to be changed back. Any comments?
