Career section?

[edit]

Neill's Career section comprises 4 total mentions of his listed filmography; there's more content on a failed Halo franchise than two films that saw a wide release combined. That seems a bit weird to me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.140.123.88 (talk) 07:49, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled

[edit]

Until the project is abondoned by Microsoft (the creators of the hit game) and Peter Jackson (the executive producer), Neil will be kept on as the director.

Why "Until the project is dropped? Cite sources. What makes you think it will be dropped?

Valuable information

[edit]

The link http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32409849/ns/entertainment/ after talking about the movie Project 9, reveals information about his commercials he did which first got him noticed. Someone might want to use that to find information about him for the article. Dream Focus 13:31, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Entire passages lifted from Orwell?"

[edit]

What is the point of having this comment in Blomkamp's profile? It seems like nothing more than an effort to discredit him. Furthermore, I read the reference linking to Daniel Leab's and I don't see any mention of Blomkamp on the entire page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.228.70.179 (talk) 06:45, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Visual FX site hacked ??? "

[edit]

The Mr. blomkamp visual Fx company website has been hacked ... the adress is supposed to be www.ratel.ca and now it is a porn site. Anyone know what happened ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.210.81.90 (talk) 18:13, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Citizenship?

[edit]

Does anyone know if he has dual citizenship (SA and Canadian) or what his citizenship status is? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.248.165.241 (talk) 22:53, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Heritage?

[edit]

Is he Afrikaner or Anglo-African? 194.17.116.210 (talk) 13:06, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The name 'Blomkamp' suggests Afrikaner. Zazaban (talk) 13:25, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tetra Vaal

What's the source on the date for this short? I'm fairly positive that I first saw it during the first half of 2004. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.105.157.92 (talk) 21:16, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"First solo film"

[edit]

Why does the section on Elysium conclude "Peter Jackson will not produce this project, instead it will be Blomkamp's first solo film". As far as I know there is no such thing as a "Solo Film" unless one is making it almost entirely alone (e.g. as Nina Paley did for Sita Sings the Blues).

Does this comment imply that the Elysium will not have a producer other than Blomkamp (There are three on the films IMDB page) or tat somehow Jackson deserves some credit for co-directing District 9? There's never been a hint of this elsewhere.

If one of the Coen's or the Wachowski's made a film without the other then indeed you could call tat informally their first "solo film", but if Tarantino made a film without Laurence Bender as producer, while it would be a notable change, I doubt anyone would call such a film Tarantino's first "solo film"?

If no-one objects I'll delete this part of the phrase "instead it will be Blomkamp's first solo film" in a couple of days. Verlaine76 (talk) 16:28, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

South African-Canadian???

[edit]

There is no such thing as a "South African-Canadian". Unless there is evidence that he has been granted Canadian Citizenship, I believe he is South African, regardless of where he currently resides. Furthermore, I sincerely doubt that Canada (as is the case with UK, Aus, etc) permit duel citizenship. The referenced article either made up "South African-Canadian" or perhaps Neil Blomkamp did. Perhaps he's ashamed to be called a South African outright or perhaps he's not aware that he is referred to as a South African-Canadian? Either way, do us all a favour and call him one or the other (or South African-born Canadian)...and get rid of this completely unheard-of nationality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.135.45.18 (talk) 18:43, 6 May 2012 (UTC) Update: I can find only one article which refers to Blomkamp being "South African-Canadian" (which is the reference used within this WIKI page). However, I find numerous other articles which either refer top BlomKamp has South African or South African-born...included below: http://www.channel24.co.za/Movies/Features/Is-Neill-Blomkamp-hinting-at-District-10-20101124 http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2009/aug/07/neill-blomkamp-district-9 http://www.wired.com/entertainment/hollywood/magazine/17-08/pl_screen — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.135.45.18 (talk) 18:52, 6 May 2012 (UTC) Final update and then you'll be rid of me. :) According to this article, Blomkamp immigrated to Canada with his family - thus we should conclude that he is now a Canadian Citizen....so based on this, I would recommend changing it to South African-born Film Director who immigrated to Cananda in 1997. Canada does in fact recognize dual nationality. 75.156.68.21 (talk) 06:13, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish?

[edit]

Doesnt list his family or personal life judging from his movies they seem jewish and heavily focus on multiculturalism? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thanatosxrx (talkcontribs) 04:49, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should we title it Alien 5 or something else?

[edit]

I'm a little concerned with the title of "Alien 5" currently used to describe the upcoming Alien movie Blomkamp is working on. It's been reported that the film follows Aliens and will ignore Alien 3 and Ressurection. While it would be the fifth stand alone Alien movie it really isn't a sequel to anything except the first two Alien films. What do you all think? --Deathawk (talk) 04:48, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
