A fact from Nelson Barclift appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 5 April 2019 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that Cole Porter's nickname for his romantic partner Nelson Barclift was "cute little nose"?
Although Barcliff served in the United States Army during the World War II era, no reliable sources found as of yet state that he served overseas in a war zone during the war. Accordingly, Category:American military personnel of World War II was removed from the article. Semper Fi! FieldMarine (talk) 01:34, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think overseas service is irrelevant in this context - surely a colonel pushing paper in the Pentagon and a contemporary dancer are as much veterans as a cook on a USSAF air base in Suffolk. No Swan So Fine (talk) 16:37, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
