POV

I just removed some rather POV content from the article that added very little to the content. It still needs some work. --BigBlueFish 14:31, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

Nemesis roller coasterNemesis (roller coaster) – Target page already exists, as well as a mess of redirects such as Nemesis (roller coaster, Nemesis (RollerCoaster) and Nemesis(RollerCoaster), all of which should be deleted.

  • Support. This is the standard form for an article name that should be DABed. Vegaswikian 20:15, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Resident Evil?

My friend told me this ride is based somewhat on Nemesis from the game Resident Evil. Is there any truth in this? I have never played the game myself but the way the ride station is shaped like a red bug kind of thing does look like something that might be out of that game. Anyone know anything about this, or is it just a rumour? Baberlp 20:28, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Totally unrelated as far as I know --Vulk 20:25, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Ride opened in 1995, game didnt come out till 1999 82.2.223.158 22:09, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Correction - the ride opened in 1994.

Correction to the main article - the World Record was NOT listed in the 2005 Guinness Book of Records. It was listed in the 2006 Book, but there have never been details of the riders names printed. I was one of the riders that set the record, and was also one of the riders who set the record on Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe Park. In fact 40 people rode Nemesis naked, but the record was measured by the amount on any one train at once (i.e. its capacity of 32). On the original record, Nemesis Inferno only holds 28 riders, but 80+ people rode naked in total.

Award

Hi, while I was at Alton Towers as a holiday, I did ride on Nemesis. At the park, it mentioned that the rollercoaster had won an award for being the most extreme rollercoaster; though I don't remember it mentioning when it won it, but Nemesis definitely did win the award. I never noticed it on the article and though I should mention it. Ross Rhodes (T C) Sign! 16:00, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

What is Nemesis really based off?

When I first went on Nemesis back in 1994/95 we were given hand outs of small comics of Nemesis. It shows Doom-style space marines going to attack a massive crab-like monster (Nemesis). Origins and details on the monster was not stated or explained. I hoped this Wikipedia page would enlighten me further on what exactly is this Nemesis creature, is it a gigantic mutated crab or some alien from another planet?

Anyway, I'd love to find & scan in my Nemesis comic to show you guys.

And no, this is not based off Resident Evil 3 since that game & film came out post-1999. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andwan0 (talkcontribs) 17:12, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Untitled

"In April 2009, over 20 complaints were submitted to the council by local villagers complaning of increased noise levels from the ride after maintenance work over the closed season. The ride has been closed and engineers have found that it is the problem with the new tires installed on the cars during the 2008/2009 closed season. The park is soon to be installing new tires onto the cars to resolve the issue." Surely, this needs rewording or removing. It could be read by people to think the ride is permenantly shut down. --Chrisjwowen (talk) 15:01, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Conflicting statistics

Can anyone clarify the conflicting opening date for Nemesis? The info box says 16th of March (changed on the 18th June 2012 with no description) and the statistics section says the 19th? Other sites say the 19th but the 10 year anniversary talk was on the 15th and talks about "tomorrow". The sections also differ on the drop height and the maximum G-force. --Dee Earley (talk) 11:31, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Generally the Roller Coaster DataBase is used as the primary source for roller coaster statistics as it is considered a reliable source. The page on Nemesis shows the 19th for the opening and a maximum g-force of 3. I wouldn't consider either Towers Nerd or Towers Almanac reliable sources. I have changed the infobox to reflect RCDB until reliable sources can be found to prove otherwise. Themeparkgc  Talk  22:14, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Unreferenced Material

Quite large sections of the article are completely unreferenced.

I don't want to have to be the one to invoke Wikipedia:Verifiability and start deleting things... but there desperately needs to be something done with regards to references. There have been no big additions since 26 February 2012‎ so its getting where the reasonable man would think no references exist for these pieces (which could mean they are inaccurate or incorrect).

Storyline

I've removed the storyline section from the article as it was a verbatim transcript of the official audio, which this YouTube video notes as ©1994 Alton Towers. Thryduulf (talk) 16:11, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
