Donald Trump

Given that this article has a side-bar listing Nepotism as a type of corruption, editors must tread carefully before adding information about particular living individuals. The basic WP policies at play are WP:NOTNEWS and WP:BLP. Even if sourced political commentators say "There is nepotism because so-and-so has named this-or-that relative to a political or organizational position", we cannot allow such opinions to be used in Wikipedia's voice. – S. The definition of nepotism is given here as "Nepotism is favoritism granted to relatives.", so how exactly can living individuals demonstrate favoritism granted to relatives? It seems according to ABC online that "he would not be violating a US anti-nepotism law, based on court rulings the statute does not apply to the White House."— Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.3.188.198 (talk) 23:35, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

John F. Kennedy is mentioned but was not violating any anti-nepotism laws either. I am not saying the mention of Kennedy is invalid; it is perfectly valid, as is the mention of Trump. Ethics is not law.
I have no idea what this means: "how exactly can living individuals demonstrate favoritism granted to relatives?" Do dead individuals typically demonstrate such favoritism from beyond the grave? Jan sewi (talk) 13:35, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
Furthermore, while we do need to be careful when articles involve living people, Wikipedians are not creating accusations of nepotism against Donald Trump out of whole cloth. The existence and pervasiveness of such accusations is not our responsibility. Jan sewi (talk) 13:39, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Nepotism. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
