Error in the Background section?[edit]

In the sentence starting, "According to 35 U.S.C. § 102b, a patent is valid if...", it seems to me that the word valid should instead read invalid. The Court's decision at the end of the paragraph is that the patent was invalid, which otherwise doesn't follow.

Anyone?
