New Studio on Broadway: Music Theater and Acting
[edit]As stated here the association with CAP21 is allegedly being disbanded in favor of an internal program. Are there any reputable sources available besides the above link which can confirm this and if so, could it be added to the article? 68.198.113.241 (talk) 19:03, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Undergraduate Film Revision
[edit]Reading through the Undergraduate Film section, I realized that it's very dense. It could be better organized and broken down into sections according to its content to make it easier to digest.
Also, I think it's written from a particular perspective that oversimplifies the program. Basically, the upper-class (3rd and 4th-year) production courses are narrowed down to ColorSync and Narrative. Though what is described is a widely-accepted and followed curriculum, it is not the only one. There are a number of alternative courses, including Experimental, Documentary, etc. that are available. Thus, I recommend revising the section to reflect the eclectic nature of potential upperclass curricula. --johnkellystyle 21:19, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Study Abroad Programs
[edit]Singapore Branch
[edit]It's just been announced by Tisch that they're going to open a branch of the school in Singapore, offering the same cirriculum and all. I wonder if it would be appropriate to cover that here or dedicate a new page to this, but I do not know enough about it and now may be too early. Just a few resources to start us editors off: [1][2] ---Jedd the Jedi 01:56, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Following the announcement of a decision to close the Singapore campus, it appears that it is destined not to have an independent existence. I have therefore acted on the Wikipedia injunction to editors to Be Bold and merged in content from the page New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Asia into a new section here Hugh Mason (talk) 01:02, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
Other International Locations
[edit]I would agree that note needs to be made of the newly-created Singapore program. Generally, I think the page could use a new section dedicated to Tisch's study abroad programs (part of their special programs department). To my knowledge, there are Film & TV study abroad programs in Dublin, London, Havana, Prague, and Johannesburg.[3] I'm not positive of all the programs for other departments. I recently participated in the Dublin program and know others who have participated in the other programs, so perhaps I can contribute some unique insight. --johnkellystyle 20:21, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Potential merges
[edit]I think Department of Drama should be merged into Tisch School of the Arts. Do we really need an individual page for each academic department of every school at NYU? TommyP 21:14, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think this was a shortsighted decision back in 2006 and needs to be reverted. At this juncture, there is an overwhelming amount of information pertaining to the program that just isn’t sufficient to cover in one page.
- Also, the argument of “do we really need an individual page for each academic department of every school at NYU” does not apply here. These are amongst the most prominent arts programs with lengthy histories (and many prominent alumni) and its a bit messy to try and jam it into one page.
- Advocating we resume the pages for the Tisch departments - I’m not saying every academic department at NYU needs its own page, but I don’t really think that applies here. Mistamystery (talk) 22:43, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
I suppose that for now it may be good idea to incorporate it into the larger article, Tisch School of the Arts. But then we should also merge the other articles, Interactive Telecommunications Program and Department of Photography and Imaging. And obviously if many more sections about the other departments get added and the article gets too long, we can always go back to individual pages for various dept's. I was thinking about the other programs, and I think they should be merged as well. Since NYU was modeled on the University of London, each of the sub-colleges are pretty massive and probably deserve a page the length of a regular university. The only reason I suggest it be merged is that the creation of a page for every academic department at every university would be to much. I still would like to know what others think before I combine it. Also, the ITP article needs heavy editing. Right now, there's a lot of info that isn't to significant and it seems cut and pasted from the website TommyP 08:46, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I went ahead an merged the Drama Dept section into the article, because their hasn't been any objection to it in the past few weeks. It could still se some cutting down though, now that it's no longer it's own article. If no one's opposed to the merger of the other programs too, I'll go ahead and merge those in the next few days. Copyright/spam violations in ITP section?
[edit]I don't know how to flag this sort of thing properly, but...
The body of the ITP section is obviously just the marketing copy on NYU's website with the accumulated minor edits of Wikipedians. Additionally, the citation below that claims to be from Digital Performance magazine is also from NYU's website.
I assume this constitutes both a copyright violation and a spam/advertising violation. Am I wrong? Is this acceptable behavior? Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Adamflorin (talk • contribs) 21:35, 10 April 2007 (UTC).
Fair use rationale for Image:Hdr-torch.gif
[edit]Image:Hdr-torch.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:24, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Marketing and Advertising Speak
[edit]A great deal of this article is still written too much like an advertisement/marketing lingo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.68.162.199 (talk) 23:23, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. Seven years after the above comment, the article is still a gigantic ad for the school. New Media Theorist (talk) 16:03, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
- And I agree too. Three years later still, it continues to read like a brochure for the school, and is lacking citations for large portions of its content. I am going to take a shot at trimming out some of the promotional stuff and see if I meet resistance. If anyone cares to join me in this, please feel free! - Okay, I will probably get some angry messages for this, but I have now excised most of the article's promotional content and in the edit summaries I have told anyone reviewing the edit history looking for a justification to refer to this talk page. A loose noose (talk) 00:15, 3 May 2018 (UTC)
I'm nearly 40 and work in financial services but I think I want to go to Tisch now, after reading this advert.
