Why...

[edit]

...do are we keeping all the players with articles on this list? No other page is like that currently, so either we should keep all the players with articles here or just remove them all.--Giants27(T|C) 19:52, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal: Vince Conde to here

[edit]

Put forward by Spanneraol. Boleyn (talk) 21:17, 11 April 2015 (UTC) Redirect rather than merge; doesn't meet WP:NSPORTS or WP:GNG. Boleyn (talk) 21:22, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • He has significant coverage from the Sanford Herald, The Tennessean, MLB.com, and the Staten Island Advance, and some more from the Orlando Sentinel. How does he not meet GNG then? – Muboshgu (talk) 17:04, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • I don't think he passes GNG either. The Tennessean is routine coverage about him getting a Gold Glove and signing with the Yankees. MLB.com is just reporting him getting drafted. The Orlando Sentinel articles have little to do with him other than a brief mention of his name. If he was a first round pick or a top prospect I'd say standalone, but it wouldn't hurt to merge for now.--Yankees10 17:17, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

Added Kolton Mahoney, he was removed from the list by Yankees10 because he isn't "notable yet". Nowhere does this list say "Notable" New York Yankees Minor League Players. The actual WP:GNG guidelines state that content of lists does not need to pass all the notability rules, but does have an exception for lists that explicitly specify that it is only for notable content. Essentially, change the title to say Notable minor league players, or allow all players to be added. The WP:NSPORTS guideline says "Some minor league players receive some coverage from reliable sources, but not enough to satisfy the notability criteria for an independent article. In these cases, it may be appropriate to write a short, stub-length bio as a section within the article on the franchise's minor league players". I did exactly this, and it was removed.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.20.52.194 (talk) 22:57, June 19, 2015‎

It would be impossible to include every single minor league player in the Yankees organization. There needs to be some sort of cutoff for notability for this page. We do this by only including top prospects, first round picks and other players that are close enough in notability to have their own page. I'm sorry but a random 16th round pick from this years draft is not notable enough to be added to this page right now.--Yankees10 03:20, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
To include a guy like Mahoney, a 16th round pick, there should be a few sources that suggest the possibility of GNG, though a belief that he falls just short. What you included is one decent but not too long piece from the Deseret News and a Staten Island Advance article on the 2015 SI Yankees, which only includes his name once at the very bottom, not discussing him in any depth. I'd suggest looking for more sources on Mahoney, or waiting until more become available. We don't want every single player with one source added to this page. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:26, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New Article for Nick Nelson

[edit]

Should Nick Nelson be moved to his own article? He's a major league player now, as he made his MLB debut tonight for the Yankees.[1]
