Defunct

[edit]

@Gadfium: Hi, what do you mean is it defunct? It looks to me as if it has ceased to exist (but I'm no lawyer). Please would you expand a bit on your question. Thanks, Eddaido (talk) 10:30, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

According to [1] it merged with Alliance Group Limited on 5 December 2015, with the Alliance name going forward. Per [2] Alliance Group is still a registered company. Both Waitaki and Alliance were/are registered in Invercargill. The Alliance website is [3] which makes it clear that they are an operating company. Is 'defunct' the correct word for a company which has merged into another, or only for a company which has gone out of business?
Ownership of the business has changed, it now belongs to Alliance Group and the previous owner is defunct. The issue is: is this article about the business or its owner? If it is not about its owner what do we call the article? These freezing companies were once essential to NZ and I have tried to begin to make a record of them - there is not much interest but I believe they have to be there. Do you have thoughts opinions as to how they are best reported in WP? Have written to you also by email. Thanks for your response, Eddaido (talk) 21:59, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've replied to your email, and am happy if you agree that this has been resolved, with no change to the article needed.-gadfium 08:40, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
