I agree with the author of the disputed paragraph that her work has been used without her knowledge or consent and have rewritten the text accordingly. The new paragraph reads: Maori concepts of design involve an active relationship between traditional and contemporary practices. Pre-European Maori had no written language so tribal history and beliefs were kept in the form of objects ranging from from woven baskets to complex carvings in wood, bone, shell and greenstone. These objects or 'Taonga' were passed down through generations of tribal elders, taking on the spirits of past owners. Therefore Maori culture incorporates strong links between objects and spirituality.

Citations / references needed[edit]

I invite any past editors out there to add some references to bits of text they have worked on. This can be done in visual editor with the 'cite' button. As a guide all statements in Wikipedia need references and although this article has links to two site it has no citations in the text.
