I am attempting to find some external references to substantiate the article. I've found some articles related to Newman's protest of the event at Princeton, but nothing that would establish the timescale or origin at Bates. If any back issues of the newspaper where it's mentioned (The Student) are available online, that would make a good source. Kadin2048 08:21, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The observation of Newman Day at Princeton likely does not predate 1995, when several Princeton undergrads were present for Newman Day at Bates. They were not Freshmen, and claimed to have never encountered the celebration at Princeton. PinusStrobus 05:31, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
