Removal of non-encyclopaedic content

[edit]

I have removed the following from the article:

As the Lower Bann drains Lough Neagh north into the Atlantic Ocean and the Newry Canal (with a bit of the Upper Bann) connects it south to the Irish Sea, the whole system taken as a whole can be conceived speculatively and imaginatively to cut off Counties Down and Antrim as an island separate from the rest of Ireland.[citation needed]

This really has no place in an encyclopaedia, when the middle section is 78 ft above sea level. Following the analogy, it would only be an island if all the lock gates were open, and then there would be no water in most of the canal. Bob1960evens (talk) 16:33, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment

[edit]

I have assessed the article against the criteria for B class.

  • Suitably referenced, with inline citations
  • Reasonable coverage - no obvious omissions or inaccuracies
  • Defined structure, with adequate lead
  • Reasonably well written for grammar and flow
  • Supporting materials - Infobox, map, images
  • Appropriately understandable

I believe it passes on all counts, so I am therefore rating it as B-class. Bob1960evens (talk) 11:14, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
