Ngati Kuri is a genuine Māori iwi based in the far North of New Zealand. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Iwi are inherently notable as are tribal groupings in other cultures. A group of editors from Wikiproject New Zealand are progressively documenting iwi. The introduction is a Whakapapa - a statement of lineage - and to Māori is the traditional means of commencing any story about themselves. That it is out of place at the start of a wikipedia artcle is grounds for cleanup, not speedy deletion. (I would put it in a section of the article with an english translation). Classifying it as nonsense is rather a gross (but probably unintended) insult dramatic (talk) 01:26, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
