Nicholas Grigsby (American football)Nicholas Grigsby – unnecessary disambiguation Joeykai (talk) 00:45, 5 December 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 02:29, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: Should Nicolas Grigsby be disambiguated with Nicholas Grigsby? NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 02:29, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Leaning towards support. I would say that the spelling differences between Nic(olas) Grigsby and Nicholas Grigsby are such that hatnotes are enough in this case. BegbertBiggs (talk) 12:05, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. I agree with BegbertBiggs. (Also, Nic Grigsby played American football too, before his time in Canada.) Adumbrativus (talk) 08:01, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I added hatnotes. I would agree that if the common name of each player was "Nicolas and Nicholas" that hatnotes would suffice, but the "Nic" is what complicates it for me. I still think the following should happen:
  • Support per COMMONNAME and PRIMARYTOPIC. That is, the COMMONNAME for the American is Nicholas Grisby and he’s the primary topic for that name. Likewise, the COMMONNAME for the Canadian is Nic Grisby and he’s the primary topic for that name. No disambiguation is necessary. Hatnotes are plenty to manage the occasional misfire. —В²C 08:36, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Primary topic with only one other topic. Nicholas is primary for spelling with an h, Nic is primary for spelling as 'Nic', but both is a reasonable search term for the other. So, put both at their primary names with hatnotes to the other.
