Where things stand

[edit]

I love this guy's work but I am finished with his article. When I was writing it I noticed a positive "response" of sorts from him out there in fashion land, but when I emailed him for more information, on his relationship with Uniqlo and MAC, nothing. His newest collection and short film with its exclusive track are inspired. He will go far. In fact I imagined him helping me look incredible in the future if I end up out there. Maybe still... but for now consider me pissed. Nora lives (talk) 05:53, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well he has finally responded to me, at length, in a surreal fashion, and with considerable ingenuity. I do not know what to make of it, although I have my suspicions. He is sophisticated, which I am happy about. In spite of the talent, you never know. Nora lives (talk) 23:46, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No proof of recognition or response has been one. Another is that there is a fear of giving me too much encouragement. The second I can certainly understand, considering his prominence and what he may or may not know about me, and it is arguably inseparable from the first, but which can itself serve more than one purpose. I have others. Nora lives (talk) 12:54, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality?

[edit]

This is honestly the most biased biography I have ever seen on Wikipedia. It looks like it was copy and pasted from a fan site. Especially considering his menswear show was widely panned for poor tailoring and design. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.19.26.34 (talk) 11:31, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was pretty thorough, and don't recall seeing that. And you are aware that he is the Creative Director? The lines, considered surprisingly wearable, have been picked up by several notable retailers or whatever the terminology is. If you can back up your claims with reliable sources maybe we can include them where appropriate and in a neutral manner. Blogs and forums and so on are not allowed. Experimental work

[edit]

I was sick but got to see his experimental creation together with Romain Kremer at SHOWstudio.com yesterday,[1] after missing it before. It was a two hour long epic and seriously wild, and I'm still processing it. I consider it a privilege, and believe it and other things he is doing should have a new section in the article when I have a way of describing them. WP likely won't accept a report or review from a contributor here himself. Nora lives (talk) 00:56, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A source.[2] Nick Knight obviously will need some attention too. Nora lives (talk) 01:10, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Met

[edit]

I met him at his pop-up shop in Tribeca yesterday evening, everyone. The guy was so cool and lightning quick he caught me off-guard and "fucked with me," as they say. I've become the worst plodding academic in conversation and should not have tried to start one with him, which he controlled. I didn't know what to say and embarrassed myself. This I probably needed.

(I haven't really been "outside" for years.)

And my pictures are no good. I tried using my phone's camera and it didn't work out. This evening I might try again. Nora lives (talk) 14:49, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So he had advised me to show up around 6:00, and though I was running late I was going to get there before 7:00... but I fell asleep on the train, not because I had too much to drink before leaving (just a couple), but because I was listening to a certain album which soothes me and I hadn't listened to it sitting down for a while. I passed right out like my mother was stroking me and woke up in time for the Rector St stop, way past the intended Canal St, looked at the map quickly and decided I should just walk quickly instead of waiting for the uptown train.
Got there maybe half past 7:00, after slugging bourbon during my walk in the rain, and was a bit drunk. Thankfully he was still open, so I walked in and made my way around to him, but yet again didn't know what to say in person, except apologize for being really late. Then I did the silliest thing and asked him if he had a boyfriend, because if you don't know already folks I've non-sexually "dated" a number of other men in the past in my own friendly way and assumed he would get that (also well known is that I want a wife and children). But Nicola shot me down! Since I was tipsy I don't remember much else but I think I left almost right away again. Another wasted opportunity.
Later I found myself back on Walker St to see them packing his pop-up shop into trucks. I went in to get photographs of the beautiful mirrored ceiling but they told me to get lost. Nicola was probably gone or busy somewhere.
The contact we had is important, however, for a variety of reasons. His article I should probably rewrite, or another possibility is creating a pioneer article "Collaboration of Lady Gaga and Nicola Formichetti," vice-versa or something like it and move a lot of the content there. Good sources mention it with some frequency so I'm fairly sure I could get away with that creation, and I've been around for a while, have some rights and know some things.
He's just begun a new project with Uniqlo and it looks important. I'll get to that in the article. Nora lives (talk) 08:51, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Worse yet, my skin looked horrible after shaving for the first time in weeks. (And I'm still overweight.) It looks like the 20th was the same day Gaga's new video was shot by Inez & Vinoodh, and this is a collaboration with Formichetti for Mugler for Paris fashion week, but I didn't know anything about it. We'll see what kind of effect it might have on the content here. Have I had opportunities to get better sources over the past months? Maybe, maybe not. I don't know, but my situation is kind of disastrous (I'm a disaster)... and it's not as if this article is important for his career. Maybe he's just being nice but it does make me feel good that he has a link to it in his newly updated and great website,[3] which I recommend exploring. It hadn't been changed since last year and months ago he stopped posting at his blog, except for like once. Too busy I guess. Rumour has it he's also involved with NASA and space aliens, super secret stuff. Where do you think Gaga's from?
Also, Nicola's got his own line coming out next year, and will be opening up more stores. My sources are poor for all of this.
And then I realized, when I got back later, that my funny green hat from Scotland was smushed too. And I think I got photographed like that, when I was standing there watching his premier of Gaga's most recently released little film shot by I&V.
The horror. I tried to cover my face I think, but I was getting tipsy by then after slamming the bourbon and don't remember clearly enough. Anyway I hope to work on his article here again soon. Nora lives (talk) 22:38, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
