Undue[edit]

Is the third paragraph really necessary here? Seems like all of the 'Gunn' stuff about his self-proclaimed contributions belongs on the Guardians of the Galaxy page and not here. The first two paragraphs seem factual, while the third seems opinion-based and off borderline topic. Mophista (talk) 01:07, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Came here to say the exact same thing. Not only does it seem out of place, but it also seems to take delight in denigrating the subject. I wonder how much of it is actually true. Viriditas (talk) 11:34, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As I expected, some of this material has been challenged.[1] Viriditas (talk) 11:39, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gunn eventually rewrote the script entirely because "it didn’t work" for him; he would use the film The Dirty Dozen (in which the army's worst ex-soldier convicts are sent on a suicide mission) as a reference to convey his ideas of the film to Marvel.[1] Gunn later explained that Perlman's draft was very different from the script he used during filming, including a different story, character arcs and no Walkman; he stated, "In Nicole’s script everything is pretty different... it's not about the same stuff. But that's how the WGA works. They like first writers an awful lot."[2] In August 2012, Marvel Studios hired writer Chris McCoy to rewrite Perlman's script,[3] however, it is unclear what, if any, contribution he had to the final script, since he did not receive production credit.[4]
