I have added a number of additional references which, while comprising brief comments on the subject, indicate his role in the field of Papuan oral history and his contribution to establishing the discipline. His significance is more than just an accumulation of citations, but is related to the history of the discipline. The notability guideline for academics, may not be the only way of addressing this subject since the historiography of a discipline may be a subject of note in itself. There is no notability guideline for historiography subjects as far as I can see, and history if reduced to events only. there seems to be some difficulty in getting to a historic notability guideline lookingat how Wikipedia:Notability/Historical is not active, and Wikipedia:Notability (history) is a failed proposal. New Guinea history and anthropology is very poorly represented in Wikipedia (part of wider the anglo-European bias), and so some leeway might be given to articles that start to fill this gap.Garyvines (talk) 02:30, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
