Features[edit]

As much of the information in the Features section is included in the infobox on the right, I don't think the Features list is necessary. Written explanations of unique features would be nice, but not a list.G. C. Hood 17:14, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree. Currently this page is only a placeholder for information yet to be released. Do remember that the D80 has only been announced and real production information and specifications are not known.wkcheang 05:03, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

The Digital Photography Review (dpreview.com) page listed under References is not a review. It seems to be a rehash of the features and technical specs from Nikon.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Dkluz (talkcontribs)

Hello... that was a "Hands-on preview". Please read the first line carefully before posting such nonsense.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.255.132.77 (talkcontribs)
It's a reference for the MSRPs, there is a note number. --Marc Lacoste 09:35, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Continuous shooting[edit]

Can continuous shooting mode continually shoot without you holding down the button? e.g. set it for time-lapse and walk away with the D80 snapping away? —Pengo talk · contribs 08:53, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so, but this is not an appropriate forum for this type of question. I suggest you go to http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1034 (the Nikon D80/D70/D50 forum) to ask technical questions like that. Or perhaps http://www.nikonians.com --rogerd 12:34, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Consumer or Prosumer?[edit]

The opening sentence says this is a prosumer camera, whereas the table at the bottom of the page places it in the consumer category. Which is correct? Msp0 03:53, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is borderline prosumer in terms of price and features. It has the image processor and many of the internals of the the D200, but the mode selection dial more common on consumer & point/shoot models. I would suggest is it should be classified prosumer. The new D40 is definitely consumer. Peter Campbell 04:59, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know a hobbyist who uses a D2Xs and I know some other people who make a living at photography who use D50 or D70 in their work. However, Nikon clearly markets the D40, D40x and D80 to the consumers and the D2Hs and D2Xs to the professional, with the D200 being in the ("prosumer") middle. I have not seen Nikon use the term "prosumer", and I have not seen any reviews or articles (other than this one) that characterize the D80 as a "prosumer" camera. --rogerd 11:18, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's obviously between D40x and D300; I would characterize it as prosumer. 193.95.165.190 15:40, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
well what you or i would characterize it as is irrelevant. we need reliable source characterizing it as one or other--Mongreilf (talk) 21:08, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Opinion varies but there are probably enough reliable sources in there that say it is. Rangefinder Mag, a trade publication for professional photographers called it prosumer. AUTiger » talk 21:21, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can find all the sourcing you want one way or the other but the terms are meaningless. Prosumer is just an arbitrary classification so people who buy a consumer level camera can feel better about it. --214.13.18.56 (talk) 22:59, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Amp glow problems?[edit]

Would a brief summary of the amp glow problems with the D80 be appropriate on this page? Nagnatron (talk) 15:30, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Explain more here? NeoThermic (talk) 17:20, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

lens?[edit]

I'm trying to figure out if it has an AF motor, and can drive built Nikon F mount lenses, or if it requires more expensive AF lenses with lens motors to do Auto Focus. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.206.162.148 (talk) 06:13, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
