Article title

What should the article be titled as? She is credited as both Nina Hillman and Nina Makino. lullabying (talk) 11:18, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Since she only goes by her first name now I'm thinking that the article title should reflect that. Something like Nina (singer) or include her birth year for disambiguation Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 14:35, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

That might be fine but most of her solo credits are under "Nina Makino", so I would be fine if it were named that too. lullabying (talk) 17:12, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
I suppose that would be more suitable for now. At the moment, she has the most notability as an actress rather than a singer. So if you want go ahead and change it. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 17:17, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
Do you think you could find a Japanese source to support the Divine Shadow series she starred in? I do not think we'll have any luck finding an English one that's reliable. As for the Shiba Park movie, it wasn't a big role but rather a cameo she had. So you wouldn't easily find her in the regular credits. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 17:38, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
I cannot find anything about Divine Shadow. Since it never aired in Japan, no one there really knows about it and they only mention it in their news articles if it was notable in the country. For Shiba Park, you mean she played an extra, right? I looked through the actual movie credits and I didn't see her name there. I notice you added back "actress" but we don't know if she's still acting. JYP pretty much pretends any career she had before NiziU doesn't exist (which is highlighted by some Japanese articles pointing out that media promotions for Blood Friends post-2020 do not mention her at all). lullabying (talk) 18:07, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
I think it would be fine to leave actress there. All we know is that she's currently inactive as one. In general, we know JYP doesn't really give their artists solo activities, but I'm not sure what it will be like for them in the future as NiziU aren't a domestic group of theirs. In the article's current state, what do you think of it being moved to the mainspace? Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 18:16, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
I don't know, it seems like she's not really acting anymore since joining NiziU. As previously stated, the Japanese articles I've seen mentioned that JYP is having her start fresh and refusing to allow articles to mention her past career with Amuse. That probably explains why Nina auditioned under "Nina Hillman" instead of "Nina Makino." Even if we leave "former actress" in we can still change it later if she returns to acting. lullabying (talk) 18:24, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
Got it. So your thoughts on me moving the article to mainspace/ Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 18:39, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
Most of the "early life" section is unsourced and Divine Shadow still needs a source, even if it's primary. lullabying (talk) 18:45, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
I'm going to change "actress" into "former child actress" if you don't mind. We don't know if she will return to acting, but her acting career is definitely treated as something in the past, as a child no less. lullabying (talk) 19:10, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Nationality

Nina's father is American and her mother is Japanese, so I thinks She is a dual citizen, American-Japanese. AaAaAbdAaAaA (talk) 10:46, 4 May 2022 (UTC)

Nationally-wise she's American but ethnically she's Japanese-American so I think it should remain as you had it. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 19:35, 4 May 2022 (UTC)

"Japanese American" isn't an ethnicity because "American" is a nationality, not an ethnicity (correct me if I'm wrong). She is of Japanese descent but of American nationality. lullabying (talk) 19:47, 4 May 2022 (UTC)

My mistake but overall I still think your original wording is better. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 22:00, 4 May 2022 (UTC)

Wikipedia guidelines suggest using nationality as notable in the lead rather than ethnicity. So "American singer based in Japan" makes more sense here. We can't assume she has Japanese nationality unless she's renounced her American citizenship.Evaders99 (talk) 22:10, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip. I have changed it accordingly. lullabying (talk) 04:03, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

  • Article was created on-time and is long enough and free of close paraphrasing. Everything is cited inline. The original hook is probably the more unusual and interesting hook whereas ALT1 seems more niche. The original hook is cited to a Japanese source so I am assuming good faith, although a machine translation appears to confirm the information. A QPQ has been done. This is good to go.
