Discussion of merger with El Niño (disambiguation)

[edit]

This page and its "counterpart" have been tagged for merger since January 10 (even though the template boxes don't show it :( ), but no discussion has begun. Therefore I'll start the troublemaking.

My vote is keep as-is. Folks interested in El Niño-Southern Oscillation will think first to search on "El Nino" or "El Niño," not "Nino." This disambiguation page is adequately large that it throws all of the "El Nino" variations down to the bottom, where it could get lost for those searching for the weather phenomenon. --Joe Sewell (talk) 00:43, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed with above reasoning, so keep for me. Even if the terms are essentially the same in Spanish, for an English speaker (particularly if they don't know Spanish) the two terms seem quite distinct. Particularly for "El Nino", which is associated with the weather phenomenon, whereas "Nino" is not. Carl Lindberg (talk) 15:39, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I call this settled; I'm removing the notice.Reinderientalk/contribs 07:54, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
