Fair use rationale for Image:No1sqd.jpg

[edit]

Image:No1sqd.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 15:44, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image Image:IAF Crest.svg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

File:No1sqd.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]

An image used in this article, File:No1sqd.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 3 December 2011

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review

Please refer rationale posted below. This image is in the Public Domain, as a commercial postage stamp in India.

No. 1 Squadron IAF

[edit]

1 Sqn AF, a Compendium of Mistakes and Mistruths

[edit]

I wonder who has written this stub. I don't see any signature. 1 Sqn AF is the oldest Sqn in the IAF, almost 86 years old. Its recorded history runs into scores of pages. Only the following few lines of the Wiki article have the least mistakes, though written in very poor English:
No. 1 Squadron (The Tigers) is the oldest squadron of the Indian Air Force. It operates as a multirole (air superiority, precision strike, and electronic warfare) unit. Based at Gwalior AFB, No. 1 Squadron falls under the Central Air Command, and along with No. 7 Squadron (Battle Axes), No. 9 Squadron (Wolf Pack), and TACDE, forms a part of 40 Wing of the Indian Air Force.

This part of the article is mostly incorrect: 12 days after the Pulwama bombing by a terrorist killIBG 40 CRPF troopers, four Mirage 2000 fighters of the Tiger Squadron launched either ystal Maze missiles or SPICE 2000 smart bombs inside PoK on a Jungle destroying 12 trees and claimed destruction a militant training camp at Balakot, Manshera, Pakistan. IAF claimed killing of over 300 militants and terror recruits, howerver International Media and independent sources declined any such claims. As a result of this misadventure of 1 Squadron IAF lost 1 Fighter Jets To Pakistan Airforce. IAF shot down 1 F-16 of PAF. IAF awarded the kill too Wing Commander Abhi Nandan. Wing Commander Abhinandan's plane was also downed and he was captured by the Pakistan Army
I looked at the right panel of this stub. Full engagements are missing. Even the Sqn Cdr has been misidentified. The dimwit should be asked to explain where he got his data from and whether he was in one big hurry to quote www.samaa.tv/--Moitraanak (talk) 18:48, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Opinions anybody? If there is no correction made AND SIGNED by a writer who can write in decent English by 19 May '19, I shall be removing and repairing this apology of an article.--Moitraanak (talk) 14:40, 11 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
THERE HAS BEEN NO INPUT SO FAR. I WILL DELETE THIS NONSENSE TOMORROW. I commanded this Sqn May 90-May 92 and am most annoyed by the crass inputs fed into this page. Who was it, may I know? --Moitraanak (talk) 17:46, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:No 1sqn.jpg

[edit]

Origin of the image

[edit]

This image is a photograph of a commercial stamp, first pasted on a specially printed and distributed First Day Cover on the 60th anniversary of No 1 Sqn, IAF. Only 1,000 envelopes were printed as first day covers and one was given to each current member (then) of the Sqn. Past/ surviving members were also mailed one each. 10,000 copies were made of the stamp, released by Air Chief Marshal (Ret’d) Arjan Singh, since deceased, and formally made available in the public domain. This was one year after my tenure as CO, 1 Sqn. AF and I was present when this stamp was released. I had 25 stamps, which I utilised freely. There should be no issue regarding its display here.
