fix circular redirects[edit]

Noakhali University of Science and Technology redirects to Noakhali Science and Technology University.

However, the talk page redirection goes the other way: Talk:Noakhali Science and Technology University is redirected to Talk:Noakhali University of Science and Technology.

Can someone who is more familiar with this university please comment on the appropriate name so we can file a move request to make these article names consistent? Tim Pierce 15:45, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disscussing on a matter[edit]

Dear Worldbruce, sorry for bothering you here. I have tried to improve the article. Specially, the lines those had been written like an advertisement. And also there is an topic about an organization COEN. Should i remove this also? As you are an experienced wikipedian, i want to ask for helping me on this subject.Rafi (talk) 07:25, 8 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

To fix content written like an advertisement, look for adjectives, opinions, and explanations of "why". For example:
  • "Not as robust as they should be." Whose opinion is it that they should be more robust?
  • "Is related to non-availability of nutrients in the sandy soil." According to whom?
  • "May turn these arid fields to rich farmlands." According to whom?
  • "May be appropriate for this university to watch these." Says who?
  • "Vast" is vague, what are the measurements in acres or square kilometers? If figures aren't available, can the features mentioned be shown on a map to convey to the reader the meaning of "vast".
  • "Feebly" is an unsupported adjective. Is there a stream gauge in the river? What is the measured flow rate?
  • "Caused by ..." is an unsupported reason. Who says that's the cause?
  • "Extensively" is an unsupported adjective. How are these activities measured?
  • "NSTU is proud" is vague. Does a university have feelings? Is this a feeling of a person (such as the vice-chancellor) or a body of people (the administration, the staff, the student body, the alumni, ...) How is this pride exhibited, how do we know that a group is proud?
  • "Strong" is another unsupported adjective. How is that measured? Do the teams regularly beat similar competitors?
Also look for material that cites no sources, or only non-independent sources. The "Open source network activities" section, for example, probably doesn't belong in an encyclopedia article about the university. The "Scholarships" section is unsourced and unremarkable. Nearly all universities offer scholarships. There is insufficient context for the reader to understand whether the extent of scholarships is low or high. What percentage of students receive scholarships? What is the breakdown between merit and need-based scholarships? Are the scholarships full, covering all of a student's expenses, or are they partial, giving students only a discount on the cost of education?
The CoEN section is somewhat promotional ("mission", "striving to", "motto"), vague ("various", "many", "facilitates"), and a bit long in relationship to its relative importance to the other clubs and the university as a whole. On the other hand, it's the only section that cites any sources. The ultimate solution may be to trim it somewhat and expand other parts of the article to restore balance. The overriding problem with the subject is that very little has been written about it in reliable sources, so it isn't possible to write much of an article about it on Wikipedia. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:55, 8 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I will trim it. I will try to cite and to expand the article. Rafi (talk) 04:48, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
