Proposed merge of Karachi Zoo with Noor Jehan (elephant)[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
To merge Noor Jehan (elephant) and Madhubala (elephant) into Karachi Zoo on the grounds of short text and context; WP:1E and recentism arguments also made. Klbrain (talk) 14:22, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposed as an alternative to deletion. Unnecessary WP:CFORK from merge target. There is no reason to split content and make readers chase links.  // Timothy :: talk  18:00, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose any merge - The Sindh High Court had passed orders earlier for the well-being of both the elephants to be looked after (see). Besides, Jumbo too was a zoo animal at first. Oriental Aristocrat (talk) 18:12, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not a a crystal ball trying to predict or anticipate who or what will be notable in the future. Topics need to be notable now and these just seem to be the run of the mill things that happen to zoo animals. Fountains of Bryn Mawr (talk) 19:55, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose; As it provides specific and relevant information about a single resident elephant. The article provides details on her medical issues and the efforts being made by foreign medical professionals and local veterinarians to ensure her well-being. Additionally, the article highlights the attention that Noor Jehan's health has garnered from the public and celebrities, indicating that she is a well-known and beloved animal. Merging this article with Karachi Zoo would dilute the focus and make it difficult for readers to find information on her specific case. Thus, it would be better to keep the article as a standalone piece. Ainty Painty (talk) 07:30, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
People (and elephants) are generally not notable for one event, see WP:BLP1E. Fountains of Bryn Mawr (talk) 12:11, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
While it is true that people and animals are generally not notable for a single event, in the case of Noor Jehan, the article provides information beyond just the incident that occurred in April 2023. The article also discusses her medical issues, her treatment by foreign medical professionals, the attention her case has garnered from the public and celebrities, and plans for her future relocation. These details demonstrate that Noor Jehan has a broader impact and significance beyond just the one incident. Furthermore, the article does not solely focus on the incident itself but rather provides a comprehensive overview of Noor Jehan's current situation and ongoing care. Therefore, it is reasonable to consider this article as a standalone piece rather than merging it with Karachi Zoo. Ainty Painty (talk) 06:13, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support merge per nom. Concur with also merging Madhubala (elephant) as well. SilverTiger12 (talk) 15:29, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
