Comments[edit]

This entire article needs to be rewritten in proper English, with sentences that make sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.52.108.165 (talk) 15:58, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article is still a mess and still needs to be re-written in proper, understandable English. RASAM (talk) 20:03, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Big chunks are still unintelligible. is this article translated from German? The original might clear up some of the obvious points. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.194.138 (talk) 08:19, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is still a mess. It does appear to have been simply translated automatically from the German article using Google Translate or similar, which does not always work well with literary German. I have cleaned up the first couple of paragraphs by making reference to the original German (which has, of course, since been edited), but it is slow work and I may not have time to finish this, at least in the near future. It should be noted that when translating articles from other languages in Wikipedia, the article should be tagged on the talk page / discussion page with the "translated" category, so that the original authors are given credit .--Muchado (talk) 02:23, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Now done, though the table of ships and the list of people could do with checking; and although references have been added, many are of poor quality and the article badly needs the addition of better ones. The translation tag had already been added here. Yngvadottir (talk) 06:31, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

1978?[edit]

There's a line in here that reads "In 1867-1868, NDL began a partnership with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, which initiated the Baltimore Line; until 1978, this had its own ships." There's no citation, and that seems unlikely since that railroad was defunct by 1978. Should that perhaps be 1878, or does anyone have a source saying 1978 is correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.167.26.113 (talk) 17:48, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'd tend to think 1878, too, & a simple transcription error, but I don't have a source. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 19:17, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
