Article name[edit]

Should the article be named F-86D Sabre dont think Sabre Dog is an official name. MilborneOne (talk) 13:03, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AFAIK is in not official, which is why it's in quotes in the article. However, I used it in the title for DABbing, as it is a common nickname, to help distinguish it from the main article. - BillCJ (talk) 13:20, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK Still think it should be F-86D Sabre (which redirects to F-86 Sabre not here!) we have not used nicknames or unofficial names in aircraft articles as a general rule. MilborneOne (talk) 19:12, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, go ahead and move it then. An admin will have to do it anyway most likely, since it's a prexisting page. Also, are you able to do hist merges yet? I found North American YF-95 this morning, which is about a year and a half old, yet know one ever linked to it from the main F-86 page! If we can merge the histories together, tht would be good. I've not made it a redirect yet because I know overlapping histories can mess up histmerges sometimes. I asked RL to do it, but I think I missed him - I know he doesn't have a lot of time for WP right now. - BillCJ (talk) 19:25, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SAGE[edit]

Even funnier, even though the F-86L was used with the SAGE system but no mention is made in this stub of an article, the F-94C lacked the datalink equipment and hence was never used within the SAGE system, yet the Wiki article on the Starfire makes a big deal about how that aircraft was used with SAGE (an erroneous claim). No way. We used to condescend to correct the blatent errors, but usually they'd be reverted by some individual who had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. As a published author with a Ph.D. who's been involved in the aerospace industry in many capacities for 30+ years, yes we know what we're talking about. But we aren't stupid enough to waste our time - we just like to point out the bs that wiki promotes as fact. But it's a good joke....
