NACA Inlets[edit]

The problem about the NACA inlets is that I lost much of my library to water damage a few years ago. I'm pretty sure it was in a Bill Gunston article SOMEwhere but I can't remember where. I still stand by my words, regardless--Phyllis1753 (talk) 01:13, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gunston wrote well over 300 books, so that doesn't narrow it down much! I'll try to look through what I have, as we do need verifiable sources. A lot of articles are lax on that, but it's still policy that needs to be followed. - BillCJ (talk) 04:43, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't trying to be callous re: your lost library - I value my book and magazine library too. In this case, we need to try to find the original source, or another one with the same/similar info. Baugher may have something on the YF-93, and he often uses Gunston as a source. While certain factions on WP have been giving WPAIR grief over useing Baugher as a source, he does list his references, which might just have the Gunston piece to which you're referring. - BillCJ (talk) 17:01, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The AF Museum and Baugher links both say that one a/c was built with the NACA ducts and the other with conventional ducts. The Davis article says they both had NACA ducts and were back fitted with conventional ones. Absurd. I don't know, I wasn't there. --Phyllis1753 (talk) 19:50, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Weight[edit]

 "The F-86C was much larger and heavier, weighing in at 10,640 lb (4,830 kg) more than its antecedent."

How does that work? That basically doubles the size of the aircraft. According to the specifications given, the weight increased by 4-5,000lbs all around. A 10,000lb increase seems implausible to me. AnnaGoFast (talk) 01:28, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
