Electrified Lines

I've cleaned this up and removed the numerous factual errors eg. petrol-electric nonsense and the erroneous geographical data, viz. the scheme did not run Central to Central in 1904 as implied by the original text.

The information on the NER petrol-electric railcars may have been misplaced, but it certainly isn't "nonsense". I suggest that you read the following:

where we find that the sentence that you removed, ie "The first experimental cars were built in 1903." is basically true, provided you follow the link to 1903 Petrol Electric Autocar. It also shows that these two bogie vehicles were very similar in design to the Tyneside electric stock, except that they had a petrol engine and dynamo driving the two traction motors. The heading of this article deals with electrification schemes on the North Eastern Railway. If you are so keen to see experimental hybrid vehicles covered, then please start a new section. No, the heading of this article is "North Eastern Railway (UK)". A mention of NER petrol-electric railcars is therefore valid in this article. It might not be relevant to the section headed "Electrified lines", but that doesn't mean that it should be deleted - merely moved to somewhere more relevant.

It's probably not an NER ship; I think that it's the SS Duke of Clarence, which was owned by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway and transferred from Fleetwood, in order to operate the newly-introduced service between Hull, Zeebrugge and Bruges which commenced on 2 June 1906. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:33, 21 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Looking more closely, the flag (blue and red quarters, white letters "L" in first quarter and "Y" in fourth) and funnel (yellow with black top and red band) are both correct for a LYR vessel registered at Goole. I don't think that it's TSS Duke of Cornwall - that ship was based at Fleetwood until 1923, when it was transferred to Heysham (along with the Isle of Man service). As a Fleetwood vessel, the flag would have been red and white halves, with a white rose in the red half, and a red rose in the white half. --Redrose64 (talk) 09:59, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a source for the start of the ferry service in june 1906? In the Port of Hull article is mentioned that the Riverside Quay is only opened in 1907.Smiley.toerist (talk) 10:09, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Of course - I don't make these things up - see
which says "upon the completion of the port of Zeebrugge, on 2 June 1906, the LYR began a new service between Hull, Zeebrugge and Bruges for which the Duke of Clarence was transferred from Fleetwood". Later on the same page we find that "trains ran to the new Hull Riverside quay which was brought partially into use on 11 May 1906". --Redrose64 (talk) 10:17, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

N.E.R. Foss Island BR

Is this the Foss Islands branch line? If so, the dates don't add up. It can't have been absorbed in 1862 if it wasn't opened till 1880. Roberttherambler (talk) 14:06, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

According to
