much better "first" effort than the other article. I deleted "with the rise of Nazis" from first paragraph--it is not clear to me from either your overview, or from the later material, if the rise of the Nazis was the reason for the demise of the local leagues, or if it was just the timing. Did the Nazis have something against football? Or was it just that a lot of other stuff was going on? Or was it just coincidence? --Auntieruth55 (talk) 17:33, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Nazis replaced the regional championships with whats called the Gauliga system, a set of 16 regional leagues. The had nothing as such against football, as long as it was played by "proper" Germans (No Jews, Poles or other Eastern Europeans were allowed to compete), but they did want to wipe out the old regional identities and replace them with their new system.
