Split article?

[edit]

To editor MethaneK: I totally agree that the section should be split into a new article. See Outer Northeast China as a related example of a separate page, as both were ceded to Russia as mentioned in the article Unequal treaty. Outer Northwest China is a historically distinct region and has little to do with the modern Northwest China except a partial similarity of names. --Geekdiva (talk) 13:23, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Now that the section on Outer Northwest China was deleted recently (by someone with a bit of a controversial editing history and is now blocked it seems), it seems a good time to have this subject split off into its own page. So can someone remove the redirect of the term from this current page and make it its own page? You can start off with what I wrote/edited in that now-deleted section. I know it's a bit original-research sounding - I am no-good in finding reliable sources for these but AFAIK a lot of these are just historical facts; the "prior to Qing" part is a bit iffy so some historical confirmation of how much the Dzungar held there and how "solid" was it would probably be needed.
