November 15 Evangelos Zappas 1859 – Sponsored by Greek businessman Evangelos Zappas (pictured), the first modern revival of the Olympic Games took place in Athens. 1908 – As a result of numerous atrocities in the territory, the Congo Free State was annexed to Belgium to form the Belgian Congo. 1922 – During a general strike in Guayaquil, Ecuador, police and military fired into a crowd, killing at least 300 people. 1943 – The Holocaust: In the Romani Holocaust, Nazi official Heinrich Himmler ordered that the Romani were to be put "on the same level as Jews and placed in concentration camps". 1988 – The Soviet spacecraft Buran, a reusable vehicle built in response to NASA's Space Shuttle program, was launched, uncrewed, on its only flight. "Philip Fast"

The pre-Christmas fast of the Churches of the Byzantine tradition starts on this day. It is only mentioned under "Eastern Orthodox Liturgics" but it is also observed by Eastern Greek Catholic Churches. I don't want to repeat too many things: if I mention it under holidays and observances it will have to repeat Orthodox practice. Continuing the ongoing effort to reduce the size of the Births and Deaths sections to make them manageable, I'm removing some celebrities with few or no articles in other wikipedias, moving the entries to the appropriate Year in Topic article if they were not already present. Churchill 1915

Is there a source for the claim "1915 – Winston Churchill resigns from the Government, and soon commands the 6th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers on the Western Front."? The issue here is it is seemingly contradicted in the Chancellors of the Duchy of Lancaster list which has him serving until 25 November. To add further confusion the Winston Churchill article states he resigned from the Government in October 1915, but the info box in the article has him serving until 25 November. Herbert Samuel's article also suggests 25 November 1915 as the date he replaced Churchill. Not sure which of these is right, but this seems to be the only place suggesting 15 November. Earthquake in Illinois

My edit was reverted because "there's no Wikipedia article on it" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_earthquakes_in_Illinois boom I have the article ChaseTOM4YT (talk) 16:35, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

I don't see a mention of that date in the list, plus there needs to be a link to an article specifically about this earthquake, not a list. Thanks, Kiwipete (talk) 04:30, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
