What is the historical basis? Ive heard his name mentioned in other sources.

I've seen it spelled as Nurgal and Nurgel, as dictated in the Hordes of Chaos books. I'll quote more later when I get home. Fr0 23:21, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nergal for a full breakdown of that. I believe all of the Chaos Gods have a similar such historical link... Sanctusmortis 18:35, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to be pedantic, there's no indication in the most recent Chaos Codex that the Great Unclean One wields a Plague Sword. While this is an item of wargear available to Nurgle forces, the Greater Daemon is not specifically listed as carrying one! Sorry!

In reply to the above; that's also not Nurgle on the cover, that's a Great Unclean One, a greater daemon. Fr0 01:37, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought Great Unclean Ones took on Nurgle’s image. So it could still be Nurgle, unless you have seen something that specifies that it is a Great Unclean One in the picture. Bombot 13:12, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spawn are NOT daemonic. I think that Beasts of Nurgle should be excluded.. save calling them BoN but with no mention of spawn! Chariots and PR are BoN, but not Spawn! Fr0 09:13, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beasts of Nurgle should be mentioned as deamons because of their history. They date back at least 1986 (WD #119, warhammer fantasy roleplaying 1st ed, Blood Bowl 1st ed deathzone) which is before chaos spawn was ever invented. And it has a specific miniature dating back to 1991 Solegend gallery which is still available from GW. There is also this miniature which I unfortunately have no date of. Besides they fail to follow the description of a warrior suffering from too many mutations, being giant slugs with tentacles. Slup

The problem with that is that they are considered Chaos Spawn now. What they were 20 years ago is no longer relevant. Twenty years ago there were also no Primarchs (at least not in the sense they are now), and so on. Cheers --DarthBinky 15:55, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Icon[edit]

Although this page already has an image, does anyone else think that the icon associated with Nurgle (http://uk.games-workshop.com/hordesofchaos/nurgle/images/cult-icon.jpg) should also be added? 66.24.236.62 17:12, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Fr0 23:36, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
