Breed

[edit]

Tabby isn't a breed, it's a coat pattern. 83.104.249.240 (talk) 14:58, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Heavily edited

[edit]

This article seemed of poor quality to me, so I've decided to be be bold and heavily re-write it. I have:

  • Generally cleaned up the sentences, making the article easier to read
  • Cut the line about "cat years" from the intro; there isn't really a reliable source for 32 cat years being 144 "human years", and other articles for old animals don't include such lines.
  • Removed "He was not our cat, we were his humans and he never lets us forget that. I think that was the secret to his long life."
  • Removed the lines about what Nutmeg liked to eat
  • Removed this source since, after the previous 2 bullet points, it no longer had a place in the article.
  • Re-organized the Death section to be in chronological order.

I think this is a step in the right direction but it still leaves a few issues. For one, the already stubby article is now even shorter. I don't really know how to make it longer. I considered adding a section about the cat's life and moving the quotes from the owner there, but I didn't feel there was enough content to populate an entire section. Second is that I don't know how to properly address the concern that "tabby" isn't a breed. On the page Domestic short-haired cat, it states that "The term tabby cat technically refers to a coat pattern, but is also often used as a general term for cats of this sort." Adding to the issues above, I can't help but express concern that BoredPanda.com isn't a valid source for Wikipedia. It's clickbait more than anything. B.Rossow · talk 15:20, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
