[edit]

'Nuts in May' is sung to the tune of 'Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush' In Australia (southern hemisphere), we do pick nuts in May because it is Autumn here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChalkNTalk (talkcontribs) 02:05, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd always thought "Gathering Nuts in May" meant 'doing something pointless or frivolous' (as gathering nuts in may was impossible) - any citations on the origin or meaning? --Davémon (talk) 21:42, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nuts or knots

[edit]

I have always believed it to be knots derived from daisy knots which would make sense givern the month. Daisy knots are rings or chains of open daisy flowers on their stems threaded through each other to form a ring or chain. Often made by boys to adorn favoured girls. That interpretation is in the article.--SabreBD (talk) 10:13, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
