This is not the oldest cemetery in Texas. Morton Cemetery in Richmond Texas dates at 1825.

[edit]

William Morton one of the original 300 used part of his land to build a cemetery across from his home on the Brazos River. A man came and stayed with him, working. He was a fellow mason. He died and William stopped his ferry business and made bricks to build his burial place. He had a plaque showing he was a mason. When Santa Anna came through after he crossed the Brazos at Ft. Bend his men were instructed to have a scorched earth policy. They came to the grave site, and Santa Anna told his men to leave the cemetery because General Santa Anna was a mason as well. 2600:1700:1B80:7C50:7849:190:BA58:F878 (talk) 08:02, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
