Regarding adding "Reception" paragraph

[edit]

If someone would like to add a reception section I would be grateful. I am not really sure how to pick sources that represent the general public perception without introducing biases. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrconter1 (talkcontribs) 09:54, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Remember to sign your comments with ~~~~. Finding reliable sources for VR topics is difficult. Articles on Forbes.com, Variety.com, MIT technology review, and USAToday.com are probably fine. Martin Kraus (talk) 12:11, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oculus Quest vs The Oculus quest

[edit]

As I said in my edit summary, while I don't deny that it's not strictly necessary, the article was all over the place with some references using "the" and some not using it. A Google search for "of the oculus quest" yields 283K results, while searching for "of oculus quest" yields 49K. "with oculus quest" vs "with the oculus quest" also yields a 3x larger result set. If enough justification is presented, I won't take issue with switching to the other form, as long as THE WHOLE ARTICLE is switched, not back to the mix that it previously was. --uKER (talk) 13:15, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Oculus Quest 2

[edit]

I propose we merge Oculus Quest 2 into Oculus Quest. The Quest 2 is an upgrade to the original Quest, without much difference in features, and there are very few apps (like... 2 or 3?) that only run on Quest 2. We can cover both headsets in sufficient detail in the same page, including critical reaction etc. Popcornfud (talk) 15:18, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, because it is just a new model of much the same. sock puppet of banned user

Given that both headsets have completely different specifications and history (the Quest 2 supporting hand tracking, Oculus Link and Air Link) I would have thought the Quest 2 article was perfectly fine on its own, but maybe that's just me. Now, the merge having been performed, IMO it was performed in the worst way possible. That is, with the data interspersed among the existing text, with no clear separation. For one, anyone coming into the article, wouldn't know the Quest 2 is covered here by looking at the TOC. If it's up to me, I'm for going back to separate articles as it was, unless a way is proposed to have proper separation between the two. --uKER (talk) 04:45, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with this merge. The Quest 2 merits its own article that should have its own info box listing its own specifications, precedessor, and eventually successor. An example of similar approach is the article for Samsung Galaxy S21. Mizst (talk) 07:21, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the comments above, the merge may have been premature. I did leave it 2 weeks after making the proposal, and linked to the discussion on WP:VG, but got no bites, so decided to be WP:BOLD. If someone wants to revert then I won't oppose, if there's no consensus for the merge. Popcornfud (talk) 10:15, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Meta Quest

[edit]

Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 are called the Meta Quest and Meta Quest 2, respectively. Should we move all articles with "Oculus Quest" in the title to match? ~ AntisocialRyan (talk) 21:58, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
