'Personal success'

Russell's personal success with Otto von Bismarck led to his appointment as ambassador at Berlin in October 1871.

What personal success? Bismarck isn't mentioned prior to this statement. Presumably it's an allusion to a congenial official or political relationship with the Iron Chancellor, but we don't know. Suggest this phrase be deleted as confusing. – Sca (talk) 21:14, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
