Which picture to use?
[edit]Ola agreed to to release one of the pictures on his website http://olagjeilo.com/about/, but I can't decide which. — Sebastian 22:54, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Major rewrite
[edit]Ola has contacted me with some feedback, such as that he'd rather not have a work list for now and an awards and honors section. That makes sense to me: The "Awards and Honors" is mostly not about awards, anyway. As Ola wrote "the things mentioned are a bit random and the most important things are already covered in the bio section". The worklist is currently not very helpful - what does it give the reader to know that one of his compositions is entitled "Prelude"? Instead, he asked if we can add a "Discography" section; which I'll do. — SebastianHelm — continues after insertion below
- On second thought, I am keeping the worklist, but I'm paring down a lot of the WP:PEACOCK wording. — Sebastian 07:00, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
I should disclose a WP:COI in that I have a "financial or other relationship": Our choir, Kirkland Choral Society, will be performing an all-Gjeilo concert this May, including his new composition "Glory", which we commissioned. Seeing that the article mentions the commision for Voces8, I was very tempted to add a plug to our concert, but I agree with Ola that it would be better to not mention any of the commissions. He points out that any selection would be rather arbitrary, and I agree; if we include commissions, the selection should be based on a reliable source, not on the preferences of editors. — Sebastian 01:09, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
The River
[edit]An anonymous IP edit removed information about the 2016 piece The River, claiming this was requested by Ola Gjeilo. I reverted that edit. What we are doing here is recording history based on sourced facts, not editing it to the liking of the subjects described. Gjeilo wrote the piece: [1]. If he retracted it, and there is a reliable source, we can record that fact too. Superp (talk) 09:18, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
