I can translate the image if someone will tell me the right translations (anyone else could do it too, you just need to open the file with the most simple text editor you have, e.g. notepad under Windows). I need

  • Schleimschicht: mucus layer
  • Cilien: cilia
  • Riechsinneszellen: olfactory cells
  • Stützzellen: supporting cells
  • Basalzellen: basal cells
  • Bowman-Drüse: olfactory glands, glands of Bowman
  • Riechnerv: olfactory nerve

translations[edit]

Labels in German. "Zellen" = "cell","riech" = "smell", "Riechnerv" = olfactory nerve, "cillien" = cilia

Forgotten info[edit]

In the May 2004 version of this article it says th following "Individual olfactory receptor neurons die out and are replaced approximately every 40 days, so that there is a constant turnover of neurons in the olfactory epithelium. These cells are replaced by stem cells residing in the olfactory epithelum"Is this still true, if so should it be put back in to the article? --Leveni 12:44, 2 February 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.63.139.96 (talk) [reply]

History of olfaction[edit]

Hello, I was read through this article, and I was thinking it would be beneficial if we added a history of the olfactory neuron to this article. I'm writing up a history of the discovery, would it be best placed at the end of the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ape222 (talkcontribs) 23:18, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
