Oliver Anthony's age is 31 as he said on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast[edit]

Age 173.15.208.206 (talk) 18:38, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done Cited WaPo instead, however. Bremps... 15:55, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"First artist to debut atop the chart without any prior charting history in any form"[edit]

Didn't Baauer do that with "Harlem Shake" back in 2013? 72.197.237.39 (talk) 01:50, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't this also false? The Wikipedia discography page shows several songs of his that have charted, including on the Hot 100. 2620:10D:C091:400:0:0:5:874F (talk) 16:21, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
His other song that made the Hot 100 debuted the same week as "Rich Men North of Richmond" so it is true that he debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 despite never appearing on the chart before that week. Idk about the other charts. I do know that Baauer had never charted anywhere before "Harlem Shake."12.228.217.214 (talk) 18:20, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The wording "without any prior charting history in any form" is crucial. Other artists have reached No. 1 on Hot 100 on their debut, but they had prior charting history in some forms. Check the Billboard reference where this is discussed - Baauer's "Harlem Shake" first appeared on the dance/electronic chart a week before it appeared on the Hot 100, while other artists appeared in the chart as part of a larger group, e.g. Zayn had chart history as part of One Direction before his debut single reached No. 1 on the Hot 100, and Clay Aiken was part of the American Idol finalists whose song charted before his own single was released. Age should be changed to 31

As mentioned multiple times by Oliver Anthony himself in Joe Rogan Experience #2027, he is 31 as of 2023. J.Bonnier (talk) 20:18, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. M.Bitton (talk) 13:14, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
{{Done}} Used WaPo as a source instead, however. Bremps... 15:54, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Bremps this was also discussed here. I removed it since it's a range and not a real DOB. A range isn't an improvement. Nemov (talk) 18:59, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you removed; the page's most recent edit was me adding the range. I do not see how the range isn't an improvement; it's not ideal, but it provides useful information.
For instance, Jack Ruby's birthday is lost to history. It would still be a bit odd to *not* put an estimate cobbled from RS there.
Respectfully, Bremps... 19:43, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Post RFC[edit]

Despite the outcome of the recent RFC, FormalDude reintroduced the information into the article anyway[1]. I have reverted the addition since there wasn't sufficient support to include. The WP:STATUSQUO shall remain until there's support to include. Thanks! Nemov (talk) 01:18, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The RfC says there is no consensus to mention his playlist as an indicator of his political beliefs (emphasis mine). The content I added does not mention the playlist as an indicator of his political beliefs, it just states the objective facts about his playlist. ––FormalDude (talk) 02:25, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The question of the RFC was Should information about a YouTube playlist be included in his biography? There was lack of support for inclusion. I'm objecting on the same grounds as before and there's little support from the RFC for it to be mentioned at all. Find support for your addition and return the article to the WP:STATUSQUO. Nemov (talk) 03:06, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The RfC closer said there was a lack of support for the proposed wording, but clearly left it open for alternative wording.
Your previous objections were that it was too WP:RECENT and that the sources were "opinion think pieces", both of which the closer deemed to be refuted. You also objected on BLP grounds, which the closer said only applied to the innuendo about his political beliefs. So I struggle to see what previous objections of yours apply to the new wording I added. ––FormalDude (talk) 04:23, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Until you have support for your change remove the content. I'm not interested in arguing with you about this any longer. You don't have to agree with me, you don't have to understand, but you do have to find support for your addition. Thanks. Nemov (talk) 04:38, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted FormalDude's addition which did not reflect the RfC. I also noticed that on "Rich Men North of Richmond", FormalDude took the most extreme reading of another RfC to label the song. I don't think this is a good way to behave, and makes little sense in holding RfCs if they are ignored? Aszx5000 (talk) 09:15, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I saw this at the WP:BLP Noticeboard. Those two sentences seem like UNDUE trivia (with that trivia being used to insinuate Anthony's political views and beliefs), so I agree with the removal/reverts. Some1 (talk) 16:16, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I didn't comment on the RFC on his playlist, but I would agree on its removal. It does sound like someone is trying to put a political spin on the playlist and insinuate something about the person, and that is non-neutral. If he choose to make a public statement on any particular issue, then write it here if what he said is something note-worthy, otherwise leave it. Hzh (talk) 09:29, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I would like to add this photograph to the Oliver Anthony wikipedia page.

A photograph of a red-headed man with a beard (Oliver Anthony). He is holding a guitar and smiling towards the right of the viewer. He is sitting on a brown couch in front of a brick wall. It is dark and part of his face is in shadow.

Yes. I can change the EXIF data for it but I may need help with how to remove the photo then reupload. Elk Mountain44 (talk) 16:11, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
