Christian Science Monitor[edit]

The link for the christian Science mointor article is dead. I'm not sure how to note that do to the way they used notations (Fulner (talk) 21:04, 1 December 2011 (UTC))[reply]

High school songs[edit]

I find the growing list of High Schools that use variants of this song rather irrelevant. I plan to delete them unless someone opposes this. --Bmk 00:57, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS: I decided to just delete them - it just doesn't seem to be notable enough for inclusion. Feel free to argue :) --Bmk 00:58, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sousa's Remark[edit]

I'm not entirely sure, but I think Sousa claimed "The Victors" to be the greatest college song. Somebody should look this one up.

They might be biased, but until somebody can provide evidence to the contrary it should stay. --Chancemichaels 03:47, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Chancemichaels[reply]
Agreed. Keep. But as I have found a direct attribution for Michigan's claim, I would like to add a {citation needed} to encourage the same detail in "On Wisconsin". Kountz's comment is attributed to 1905-06, so perhaps Sousa had a change of heart. Only one way to find out. MMetro 02:02, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hockey lyrics[edit]

In the past I've seen hockey-based lyrics for this song. If I recall correctly, in the second line the first word is changed from "plunge to "skate," the third line I don't recall (might have been something like "Take that puck right down the ice"), in the fourth line "touchdown" was changed to "goal," and the rest of the song was the same. I've been searching, but so far I can't find anything. Thus, the search continues for a source. Entrybreak (talk) 01:14, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ownership[edit]

Being from Wisconsin, I recall the uproar when it was found that George McCartney owned the copyrights to On Wisconsin, and that there was some sort of legal fight around it. I did some research, but I couldn't find many details on this. There were two articles in the New York Times in 1981, but further details I can't find. I suspect there might be further articles in newspaper archives. I already searched with Duck Duck Go and Google.

This fight is separate from the lawsuit brought against Sony Music in 2017. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.29.128.29 (talk) 06:52, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
