Dollar-a-year men

Perspective of the article is way out of whack. "Dollar-a-year men" joining the Roosevelt administration, during WWII and probably earlier, all thru the Depression, were a feature of government in the mid-20th century. The emphasis was on bringing expertise from the private sector into government efforts, with a lot of the same spirit touted when people put aside private life to fill military positions. It may have been David McCullough's 1992 bio Truman that clearly described that practice to me.
There should also be a description of the legal logic: presumably any salary creates a legal responsibility to the employer that no volunteer carries; it may have some sort of relationship to the fuss made during the Clinton health-care reform initiative, about Hillary not holding any formal position yet being involved in the deliberations.

Current Definition

I don't know how we should handle individuals who formerly were "single digit salary earners" but it should be applied consistently. TXAggie (talk) 02:26, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

Steve Jobs death

In response to Steve Jobs death and the small battle between a few people I have renamed the title for the list of names from 'are currently listed' to 'have been listed'. Please change this to something that reads better however by staying 'currently' it is incorrect as he personally does not receive any income now. con101193 —Preceding undated comment added 01:02, 22 October 2011 (UTC).
