[edit]The sentences "The video for this song contains all footage from live shows and the road in general. Supposedly, this song is about being on excess touring." create the impression, that somebody supposes the song is about touring, because of the live footage in the video? are you kidding me?
He stated that it was about touring in an interview.
"The song's space/science fiction relation can also be interpreted from the way Cedric Bixler-Zavala introduced it during live performances. It was typical for him to make references to both the film 2001: A Space Odyssey and David Bowie's famous track "Space Oddity" before launching into the song."
This is true for the song "cosmonaut", which is introduced by tape that repeats itself over and over again saying "Well, it's exactly like being asleep. You have absolutely no sense of time. The only difference is that you don't dream." and cedric says something like "and this was hidden inside the ventilation shaft" or "it seems the captain and its crew are on their last legs" , also there are references to space odysee in the song "cosmonaut" like "here comes the monolith", but this is not true for one armed scissor this appears to me to be clearly a mix-up of the two songs, i will delete it of noone protests
okay i deletet the part since it was very misleading
also I'm not sure about the part
"A second version of the video was also released with Fearless Record's compilation This Station is Non-Operational containing more live footage."
there are two versions of the one armed scissor video, but the one released on this station is nonoperational, is as far as i know the older one
i have seen the video around 2000 in tv, so i believe this is the original one, and then they made an alternative version later on
does anyone have more information on that?
otherwise it should be rephrased to leave open which was first
Changed Genres
[edit]I couldn't find any sources naming the genres for this song to be "progressive rock, experimental rock, math rock"- the ones I I did find noted it to be Post-Hardcore and Emo. I might be wrong about this, so please do correct me.

"At The Drive-In was lumped in with emo. Aside from a handful of outliers like Chinchilla, Rainer Maria, and Franklin, the emo scene was dominated, largely, by white dudes. With Bixler-Zavala incorporating Spanish phrases and pronunciations, and Rodriguez-Lopez bringing his love of salsa music into the band, they bucked back against the scene’s homogeneity and carved out their own space inside it."
