GA Review[edit]

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch

Reviewer: Adabow (talk) 11:02, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Before I carry out the review, I have checked what remains to be done from the first GA nomination:

  • Last sentence in 'Background' section needs a reference.
  • References should be placed after the punctuation throughout the article, as per WP:REFPUN.
  • When using {{cite web}}, the work paramter does not need double apostophes ('') to italicise the text, as the template automatically italicises it. When you add the apostrophes (eg ref 5 Billboard has been filled out in parameter as work=''[[Billboard (magazine)|Billboard]]'') it actually reverses the effect, and gives it normal font. Please fix up any relevant references in this style (eg work=[[Billboard (magazine)|Billboard]])

Well written[edit]

  • Lead: "...written and produced by Bieber's mentor, Usher, Ezekiel Lewis..." make it clear that Usher is Bieber's mentor, and not the other writers "..written and produced by Bieber's mentor, Usher, as well as Ezekiel Lewis..."
  • Lead: 'iTunes' should be wikified/linked to iTunes Store
  • 'Critical reception' section: quotes mid-sentence do not need capital letters, as per MOS:QUOTE ie "...Crystal Bell of Billboard gave the song a generally positive review stating "Much as he did..."
  • 'Chart performance' section: chart positions should have "number n", rather than #n ie "Hot 100 at number 69", rather than "Hot 100 at #69"
  • 'Music video' section: there is more quote uncapitalisation needed (as above), and one quote "It’s really small and quaint and cute and cool" has two opening speech marks; please remove the second set. The final quote of the first paragraph doesn't need brackets around the ellipses: "It’s romantic, it’s in a laundromat [] that’s all it takes to win a girl is strung lights".
    • Likewise, "The setting for "One Less Lonely Girl" seems to be Main Street, USA [...] And why not?...
  • The final quote's error should be corrected, rather than including [sic], as it is a minor typo. See MOS:QUOTE for more info. "An [sic] then, as if the..."
  • 'Merchandise' section: in between two sentences there is a random '=' – please remove."signature by Bieber.[19]= MTV Buzzworthy"

Accurate/verifiable[edit]

  • As above, citations should be placed after punctuation.
  • Writers of the song need a ref.
  • 'Live performances' section: The Next Star and Good Morning America performances need referencing.
  • Performances on the Fearless and Urban Behavior tours need references.

Broad[edit]

No major problems

Neutral[edit]

Represents POVs fairly/no bias.

Stable[edit]

Looking at the history, there are no edit wars, but the article is the subject of a fair bit of vandalism. Silver locking it should be looked at, see WP:ROUGH

Images[edit]

  • Images have proper copyright tags and non-free fair use rationales
  • Music video image is captioned

Final comments[edit]

There are several issues that need dealing with. I will place the review on hold, awaiting further improvements. Good luck improving the article! Adabow (talk) 23:16, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RE:[edit]

I fixed the concerns to the best of my ability, some of which removing information without direct references. Also you mention cite the writers, and they are already cited in the Credits & personnel. I think that's all. And about silver locking, it has been semi-protected at times, but actually the vandalism has slowed down recently. Candyo32 (talk) 00:18, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well done, just a couple of other things yet to do:
  • The release date at iTunes has had a reference added, but the information is not in the citation. Can I suggest [1]?
  • All references should be placed after the punctuation. You might like to use the find tool: Press Ctrl+F and type in '].' and '],' (without apostrophes) to find any left to fix. Adabow (talk) 02:04, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed ref/punctuation and J-14 article gives the date October 6, 2009 and the article states Justin Bieber's single.....was released today, or something like that. The keyword you told me to search didn't bring up anything in the text, so I've went through again and tried to put them after punctuation. Candyo32 (talk) 02:27, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am satisfied with the improvements, and will now pass the article. Congratulations!
note: citation 24 remains to be placed after the full stop, but this is very minor and I trust it will be done ASAP. Adabow (talk) 05:18, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
