Singles
[edit]I'd like to invite: @Ss112:, @Kellymoat:, @MrF1shIsFish:, @NotNitinChopra:, @TheSubmarine: and @Soldier qwerty: to please discuss the matter here and sort the number of singles currently available. LP4Ever (talk) 04:16, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Ss112:, @Kellymoat: I don't think there are reliable sources to say that Good Goodbye is a single. But Billboard states that Invisible is a single, so it should be added to the list. Billboard is a reliable source, to the best of my knowledge. Suggestions? NotNITINChopra · [ Poke ] 04:59, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, Billboard is a highly reliable source, so if they say "Invisible" is a single, then it most likely is. I would support adding it. Kokoro20 (talk) 05:09, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Kokoro20: I guess, It was added previously but someone removed it, without any reason. LP4Ever (talk) 05:20, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

- I hid Invisible inside a note, I did not delete it. I want confirmation that it is a single. The Billboard ad doesn't call it a single, they call it a supportive single - which I equate to "promotional single". Nor was it (at the time, I don't know about now) available for sale on iTunes. Other sources call it a song. Kellymoat (talk) 11:26, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
- What are the singles? - Heavy is the only confirmed single. Invisible is still a possible single (read my previous comment). The other 3 (or is it 4) were not singles, they were promotional singles. Kellymoat (talk) 11:31, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
- All four are singles. Heavy and Invisible are regular singles. Good Goodbye and Battle Symphony are promotional singles but still singles. TheSubmarine (talk) 14:13, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- But for infobox purposes, promotional singles aren't included. -- which is what I assume brought up the topic. Kellymoat (talk) 14:38, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- It should be noted though that The Hunting Party (album) did include all promotional singles in the infobox. Either one should be changed. --Gbuvn (talk) 23:47, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- The Hunting Party singles were first released as promo singles and then later on as singles.LP4Ever (talk) 07:22, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

In addition each of the songs being discussed here including Battle Symphony is available separately on Google Play Music. Do check it.. But the cover is the same as that of the album.LP4Ever (talk) 13:35, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
- My guess would be, since the album has been released, all of the songs are now available. But, Invisible was not available on iTunes before the album (at least not for the last week or two). Which is odd, because the other "singles" were. Kellymoat (talk) 07:57, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- Actually this is interesting. Battle Symphony, Good Goodbye and Invisible are all sold single separately from the album on Google Play. [1] (Look at the albums section) That's only the case for main singles if you look at what other Linkin Park singles are available or not. --Gbuvn (talk) 14:23, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- Radio.com also calls it a single. Seems like they'd be an authority on this sort of thing. I also don't agree with the logic that "supportive single = promotional single" - Supportive single isn't any sort of established term for promotional singles (You could call any single "supportive" - the general premise of most singles is for it to "support" or promote an album). - But at the time, the posted sources called it a song except for the one that called it a supportive single. Obviously, now, with the album actually released, there are probably many more links available. But also, as time goes on, we can never discount the sites that use WP as their source - wrong information exists on the web because people copied vandalized WP articles. Happens all the time. Which is why we need to make sure we get it right.
- And we can't forget that songs that LP, themselves, called promotional singles, while others call it single. Quite honestly, I don't even know (or care) what a promotional single is. Once upon a time, you bought an album. Maybe a 45, which had a B-side. Now, you can individually download just about any song - album be damned. Kellymoat (talk) 17:37, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- I'm well aware of the inner workings of Wikipedia and the spread of information on the internet, thanks. But to recap, we've got a source (Radio.com) directly calling it a single, a source (Billboard) calling it a "supportive single" (which is not an established synonym for "promotional single"), and outlets (Google Play) releasing it as a stand-alone release. I think the bigger question is, do we have sources directly labeling it a promotional single? Because calling it a song doesn't necessarily equate to it being a promo single either. Removal of AltWire review
[edit]"Removing non-notable, non-RS review sites. This is a high profile release, there's no reason to use these obscure music blogs with so many higher profile reviews."
Why was the AltWire review removed from this article? The review was put in this article to help balance the negative VS the positive, and without it...this article feels deliberately skewed and biased towards the negative. AltWire is a credible news source, carried by Google News with many reviews of different albums. It's hardly an 'obscure music blog' and if the editor had spent a few moments investigating this, they would've seen that AltWire has interviewed and covered several high profile acts. Furthemore, reviews on there are not 'completely favorable' for every artist or biased, and are often critical in nature meaning the opinion presented within the review was legitimate and worth inclusion. It should have not been removed. Period. --174.60.35.35 (talk) 18:00, 10 June 2017 (UTC)doz1986

Make "Talking To Myself" the second single of the album with a release date of July 25, 2017.
Reliable sources: 1 & 2 (All Access IS a reliable source as it was used as confirmation for singles on big articles such as DAMN.) 2604:2000:D05A:CC00:A4A1:B63C:81B4:FDFA (talk) 05:39, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

- The request was to add "Talking to Myself" to the infobox as the second single. That was already done by another editor. Not to change the track listing, which is what I undone. Ss112 03:56, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
'Talking to Myself' release date

"Sharp Edges"
[edit]Anybody found anything notable and reliable about this album's final track, "Sharp Edges"? It's the only track in this album without its own wiki article, just saying. RIP Chester....DAAOEM91019 (talk) 08:19, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- Honestly, I think people should be more concerned about all these sloppy articles that have been made for all the other songs. It helps that they charted, but still, most of the articles outside of "Heavy" are in terrible shape. They're short, devoid of content, and poorly written, many being nothing more than a collection of massive direct quotes. They're likely to get deleted or merged back into the album article in their current state. Sergecross73 msg me 13:00, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
Accurate current sales figures
[edit]Having looked into the sales figures for the album I would like to propose a 'Commercial Performance' section to the album wiki. I've tried to find up to date sales figures for the album but I'm clutching at straws, must be nearing a gold certificate in the US by now, can anybody come up with something current for the US. I've got the information for first second and third weeks sales but would like the full picture. EL Foz87 (talk) 00:36, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
"Last album with Bennington" comments
[edit]Wanted to leave a comment on this, since there's an editor that makes a good point but hasn't bothered to start up a discussion on it: We shouldn't say things like what was removed here - we technically don't know that this is the last album to feature Bennington. They've released entire 2Pac and Michael Jackson albums after their deaths. And Linkin Park was the type of band to record tons of extra songs for albums. They could very well use those old vocals for future albums. So we need to word it accordingly. Sergecross73 msg me 01:10, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Bennington rhythm guitar comments
[edit]IP's keep making edits like this, claiming that Chester Bennington played rhythm guitar on "Battle Symphony" and "Sharp Edges". This is bizzare to be considering:
- This is not a typical role for him.
- These songs barely have guitar parts at all, let alone a secondary guitarist on them.
- Its not in the album's liner notes/jacket.
Am I missing something? Or is this bizarre vandalism? Sergecross73 msg me 20:14, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- It's probably a lack of misunderstanding considering Bennington plays guitar live for Sharp Edges, but that doesn't mean it applies for the recording. As for Battle Symphony I have no idea why, considering I can't even hear any guitar at all in that song. --Solitude6nv5 (talk) 12:13, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- Interesting about "Sharp Edges" live - at least that would explain the misconception. I share your same observation about "Battle Symphony". Anyways, at least with its recent additions, it seems to come from an IP address that has a long history of blocks and making questionable claims about band roles, so I'm guess its a good-faith or bad-faith mistake on their part, and nothing more. Bennington Rhythm Guitar Comments Part 2
[edit]Can we put an in note or something in to try to avoid additions to the Personnel for Chester Bennington playing rhythm guitar for certain tracks? I get he performed these parts live for Battle Symphony, Sharp Edges and Nobody Can Save Me but it's like listing Lil Wayne as a guitarist because for the crappy solos he 'performed' live. There's no sources and they should stay off for the reasons Sergecross73 already stated. --Solitude6nv5 (talk) 15:43, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, we can do that, I didn't realize how long we've been dealing with this. I say go for it. Ping me again if you'd prefer I'd write the note. Sergecross73 msg me 15:45, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah please do it Sergecross73, I am not sure how to. Solitude6nv5 (talk) 14:15, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
- I've added one, but feel free to tweak it if you like. Sergecross73 msg me 17:25, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
